Also, can you coat pieces of material on the string like sugar on sugar cookies and make the string bite into the ball more? Or do companies already make that?

they have like "rough," thats like textured i beleive

Spin strings are rough. The texture bites the ball for more spin. Spin strings are made in a few different ways, hexagon shape, cuts (alu rough), or extra filments wound over the string.

Sugar is going to end up on the ball. You should do it unless you are trying to sugar eventually sugar up the ball. The sugar might end up in your eye. Try glue and a sand blaster.
