So i'm a 14 and under baseline thrasher. :D
These peep squikes i'm starting to play are driving me into madness.
I play a lobber then a dinker, and then some crazy slicer.
I actually do so much better when i play 15 year olds and up, cuz they hit some nice solid groundstrokes with ya. :)
only the top 14 and under players hit deep groundstrokes and can turn on and off pace.
Well, everytime i face one of those guys i end up winning or it's very close.
And, when i play those dinkers and slicers i used to get so impatient.
And i've been patient and have come to beat all of them 6-0 now.
I'm thinking i should move up earlier, and just get a feel for the 16 and under.
I turn 15 september 17
Should i get a head start and just start playing them now?
because my groundstrokes match theirs, and my serve is just as good.
What do ya think?

If you think you can move up then do it. I personally would prepared myself to play all types of players before I move up.

Unless you've got a really good 14s rank (essentially you don't think you can move it up too much), or would rather start building your 16s rank, I wouldn't advise moving up.

i can move my ranking way up but the thing is once i do, i would put all that effort in for doing so and then by september i would no longer be able to play 14s.
So i guess it's just benefiting me either way, tough choice.
Southern California section is very brutal.
That's why i love it though. :D

Combine the ITF age rule with the USTA age rule and come up with your own age rule.

If you can do it, I suggest you move up, because then when you do age up, then you will already have a head start, and probably, a decent ranking! Good luck!

Move up now b/c in the 16s, you won't be facing any dinkers/lobbers but possibly a few slice n dicers. Most of the 16s I've played pretty much all play the same game, baseliner, topspin forehand, weaker backhand but also topspin, flat first serve, either slice or topspin second.

Dinkers/slicers/pushers don't go away at higher levels. The top 16s player in Oregon, who I know could absolutely stomp you into the ground, probably slices his forehand 50% of the time. Hell, some even exist in the pro ranks; Santoro, anyone?

it is brutal indeed. i am also 14 with the same problem tho dont have that much room to move up. i turn 15 in June and i started playin 16s last september so that i could get the socal and national ranking needed to get in to the tournaments that i got into in the 14s like clay courts, hard courts, zonals, etc. So basically my advice is PLAY 16s

ranking means nothing. move up and play the oldest age group you can compete with. you cant get better by playing worse players than yourself.

you probably could move up just ask some of the 16s to hit with you and see how you do ask themm to serve and make sure you have a powerfull return

How do u develop a powerful return? The reaction when ur playing 16-18 yr olds is really hard since they have such hard serves...

just use there power against them. set up early and split step before they make contact.
