The ultimate stringer organizational tool.
If you string or have a stringing business this system is absolutely incredible. I want everyone on this board who cares about stringing to check this site out. It is sticky worthy.

They've been improving the site day by day. They have a reference section featuring YULitle's videos and various stringing terms/string characteristics/racquet terms, etc. It creates great reports on racquets strung, setups, popular strings, etc. But best of all, it creates custom racquet labels (with a p-touch or dymo machine) and invoices for your customers. I would say stringjob.com is better than ok...it's the best organizational tool that I've ever used. I absolutely love it.

Oh, and the guys who run it are prompt to reply if you have any questions.

^^^ I have not used it but I am assuming it simplifies the life of a stringer according to their site.

In the Racquets section, you can select a lot of frames, and there's a link on each one to a doc with the stringing pattern. I checked some of these and couldn't find any that were filled out, even the most popular racquets. Assuming that people have been using this software awhile, you'd think there would be plenty of patterns in there by now, but I haven't found a single one.

YULitle
04-22-2008, 08:15 AM
It relies on people filling them out. For a stringer like myself, I don't look at patterns, for the most part, so entering them is out of the question as well.

Nuke
04-22-2008, 08:23 AM
Yeah, I get that they are reying on users to enter the stringing patterns, but I couldn't even find patterns for the popular frames. Not a problem for me, really; just checking it out.

Who runs this thing? Clicking on the "Help/Contact Us" link did not bring up any contact info (at least in the "18 Guage" version I'm looking at). YULitle, you must know something, as they link to your videos.

YULitle
04-22-2008, 08:29 AM
Yeah, I know one of the two guys who run it. He let me use his machine for the second batch of videos. :D

One thing i did not care for on the free version of Stringjob.com was that it only keeps 12 months of records. It's free and storage costs money, so it's an understandable limitation.

That being said I really only string for myself and I like to keep notes on strings in my log 9an excel spreadsheet). With so many strings to try I could never remember them all and what I thought about them after playing with them. I do string for an occasional friend so it's also nice to have the records there so I can know what string and tension they got last time etc.

Oh right thanks.

Yulittle, while your posting, could i ask a quick question?

I have been trying to use parnell knots, i can tie them, but tensioning them is my problem. I have been trying to tension them using pliers, and i find it damages the string, and in some cases, i have snapped string. Is it that much easier to tension using a starting clamp? I find tension easier to pull when doing double hitch.

Its easy to pull a synth gut but a poly is hard esp Big Ace as its very smooth and kinda plasticy

BG would be fine i would of though

Just make sure to get as big as loop as possible so your whole hand can fit on the string while pulling

YULitle

Lloyd: Using a starting clamp to pull knots, instead of pliers, is like an auto mechanic using air tools instead of hand tools.

Go to Settings > String List

You click the check box at the right of the strings you want to add to your list, add a price if you want, and then hit Save Prices.

You have to add strings from their list to your list, this makes it so that you can only have the strings that you use on your list, and not every single string.

Fixed now, so I suppose we can assume that the folks behind stringjob.com are reading this thread.

Babolat15, you started this thread by calling the site "the ultimate" and "absolutely incredible" and "sticky worthy." High praise. Would you, perhaps, be one of the people behind this website?

incredible... still trying a few different string setups in it. replaced the grip to a laserfibre tour so I can fit a tourna grip overtop and still feel the edges. Stock grip was a bit squishy for me.

Some of the differences between 18 Gauge and the full version are that full version has no customer limitations, invoicing, emailing, custom label templates, and a whole slew of new features that are being worked on daily.

Hello Jason, and before anything else, congratulation for this great tool for any stringers.
There are several months I'm looking for such a thing.

I've subscribe yesterday for a year, I didn't hesitate too much before, the idea is great even if there are still lots of things to do to make it better.
Let me make any comments, I hope my point of view can help, if I can make anything to help you developp this project you can count on me :

- for the moment it's not possible to use invoices for my customers :

cost of the stringjob must appear, we only see for the moment the cost of the string or the cost of the stringjob but not both
you must show the percentage of the discount offered, the original price and the amount of the discount
discount must be available for strings, stringjob, string + stringjob
the tension only appears in lbs and not kg on the invoice

- is it possible to insert the bild of the shop on the invoice ?

- is there any project of a translation in french ?

Great regards,

Stephane.

Honestly I find it to be quite tedious for what it actually does, and has too much information for each racquet strung. I just keep a manual spreadsheet in my notebook I keep by the stringer recording:

Paid - Racquet - Owner - String - Tensions - Date - Notes.

I transfered my data from 2008 thus far into the system and it just seems like there is too much clutter in order to figure out simple things, like all excess information that I left blank on all of them. I suppose it could come in handy for some, but I personally think the site is too busy with all the information for each racquet. I'll stick to my notebook.

It's better to have too much (which I personally don't think it does), than not enough. I like all the choices you have on the job page...it allows you to be super consistent.

I agree, but for my purposes it's too much. I'm sure it will be well liked by most people who try it but it's just not my cup of tea.

I'll have a look but I use an Excel workbook which has a database of customers, strings inc prices, grips, a stringing log, and keeps track of ins and outs. It also prints invoices by looking up customer details (all you need to do is enter the customer number), and lets you look up string/grip prices and marks up for you. That way when I'm talking to someone about a string job I can enter what they want and it will give me a recommended charge for the job. Knocked it up in an hour and I'm not reliant on the internet.
