I had this poll last year and I will have it again this year. Who will win the 2008 F1 Drivers Championships. It seems we have 3 cars, and thus 6 drivers to consider this year.

I would like it to be Kovalainen or Heidfeld but more realistically I think it will be Mr. No Personality Kimi Raikkonen. Has there been a more boring F1 champion in history, atleast in the press room. He is a great driver and this year Ferrari looks like the fastest car. I am not even sure if McLaren is the 2nd fastest car or not from early season indicators, although alot can change as the year goes on.

I'm still hoping this Renault package that's supposed to make the car "competative" works! Anyone but Lewis imo.

Well even if it does how realistic is it that it really becomes so "competitive" that Alonso can come back from likely a big deficit (already one forming to the leaders) and pass all of them to win the Drivers Championship. I agree on Hamilton though. Anyone but Hamilton will be great.

Hmm, yeah, The package was supposed to be ready for the Spanish Grand Prix. Still,as you said he's 13 points down Kimi already....be really hard to claw that back, although it is possible!
PS: Alonso has a stated in this article

that this car would gain
"It will be a big step forward - multiple tenths of a second."

Personality or not, the guy is generally liked by most people and even the press despite (or perhaps due to ) his quiet nature. After all of the controversy last year, I can't think of a better champion. And he's pretty good behind the wheel too :p

Good points. I am sure he is a nice guy, and he does seem well liked and respected by all in the sport. He just isnt a very colorful personality to the press and seems to be very introverted to the public. Then again, as you said after the embarassments of 2007, perhaps that is the best face to represent the sport right now.

Most likely Raikkonen, only reason he wouldn't get it is if his bad luck kicks in too often. I was expecting sometime ridiculous to happen to him at the last grand prix last year with the driver title within reach.
2nd most likely is Hamilton, but I think the high expectations this year is getting him.
Heidfeld and Kovalainen are the dark horse candidates. Heidfeld doesn't have a Ferrari or McLaren-Benz so his chances are slim. Maybe Kovalainen can do what Hamilton did last year.
Kubica has a better chance than Masa imo. It surprises me why Ferrari would sign a three year contract with Masa in light of the traction controll ban. Masa is very erratic. He is super fast but seems to push the car past the limits a little too often. He spun the car and ran off the track about 6~7 times at Fujii 07 freaking out everyone and was some how able to fight off Kubica for 6th. I will say I do like watching the drama he adds.
