View Full Version : How lucky we are

In cruising around the TW threads I found posts with youtube videos of wheelchair tennis, a picture of kids playing on a court in Croatia buried knee deep in snow and military armory around them among other things that made me realize how lucky I really am.
I guess the point is, be thankful for what you've got, and never, ever give less than 110% because there is someone out there, be it someone in a wheelchair, or some kid in Croatia that is willing to give that and more.
Best wishes

Ya Ive been thinking about this and how lucky we are. And not to do anything stupid that could cause an injury.

well don't feel to sorry for us wheelchair players, we still enjoy tennis as much as anyone else.
I tell ya one thing that you are lucky about though.....when someone hits a body shot at you, you guys can just shuffle your feet laterally and send a shot right back.....us wheelchair players can't, oh lord how I wish we could. It would be a different game for me if I could

Oh I did not mean to imply that anyone should feel sorry for anyone. It seems, we are dealt a lifetime of poker hands and like poker some are great, some are good, and some aren't so hot. But when the day is done, it's what you can make of that hand that counts.
Trust me, some of the wheelchair vids I saw, two bounces or not, they would not be easy matches. What you might lack in physicallity, it appears that it is made up by the mind.
I was hoping I could prompt others to cruise around and see some of these videos. Then go out on the court and serve the extra serve, work the extra half hour, put in just a smidge more effort and see what happens. We are riddled with lots of great Jrs., who can dominate this sport as in the 60's and 70's however it does appear we lack, and NOT EVERYONE, just the majority is that extra little something everyday. And enjoy doing it, in fact eat it alive while doing it.
