i currently play with the microgel extreme pro, but am looking for a stick with a smaller head size and more weight. I'm only 3.0, but i can handle the weight and I'm preety sure i could handle a mid head size. I am thinking about switching to the RDS 001 2008 mid in the near future. Would this be a wise choice?

why the mid... why not the MP?

coming from the microgel extreme that will be a HUGE change. 90 inch heads aren't usually a good idea for a 3.0 player.

I would try the mp, but i like the specs of the mid more. the extra weight and smaller head. I heard that the soft grommets and isometric head shpae give a bigger sweetspot too.

bigger than most mids, but it is still a very demanding racket.

I would first look at going to a 95" frame if you want to go smaller. I highly doubt a mid will benefit your game.

hmm, that sounds like a good idea, i was also considering the rqis tour, but i didnt like the comments about its lack of power and the thickness of the racquet.

the rds 001 mid has even less power than the rqis, so it definitely would not be a good option.

Try adding some lead to your racket and play around with strings. Customization can do wonders.

well, i think i could get around the power problem if i changed my current string set up. right now i have a full poly job at 65 lb.

i used a poly job on k95 at 67 and 65. thought rds 001 mid was a little bit too low powered.

BTW the RDS was strung at 56

wow, that is low powered. do you hit with a lot of spin, or flat?

spin. but it might be because im not used to the yonex.

the thing that drove me away from the RDS 001 is the 2nd serve. i had a lot of problems and you will find that many posters do as well

hmm, well, second serves are my specialty, problems meaning spin production?

just imo opinion the rds 001 mid is pretty demanding i have one, but i only use it ocassionally and im around a 3.0-3.5, power is very low and without proper technique u cant really harness the capabilities of it, but as for sweetspot the sweetspot is huge it feels like an MP, but its still demanding but not as demanding as some other mids like an n90
