Here in Europe, during the clay court season we have daylight until 8pm. So no need for artificial lightning.

It isn't. There will be floodlit sessions in Rome.

Because after dusk, there would be too great a risk that it would put everybody to sleep.

Lol this was funny, even though I disagree with the statement :)

Clay is played in the daytime to make sure the courts are as dry and warm as possible, giving maximal advantage to clay-court specialists.

Rome & Hamburg have night sessions.

When a tournament has only one session(the day session), they have less opportunities to make money.

You have night matches at your tournament, you can double your revenue. But its not cheap to install lights either.

Hahaha, this is probably the funniest post I have ever seen on this board.

Actually there´s quite alot that are played under lights. Rome, Hamburg, Viņa Del Mar, Acapulco and Costa Do Sauipe. So there´s quite a bit.

Courts actually play slower at night. Only players with heavy topspin benefit from the day sessions. This goes way before Nadal came around.

Yeah, but he has the gayest stare, which totally negates any "werewolf" tendancy he might have. I don't know, maybe it's time for a gay werewolf!

I remember seeing an awesome Nadal/Coria final (I believe it was Rome) that ended at night(with lights of course).

Because the courts would bake (with the water) becoming "Rebound Pottery" or "Deco Porcelain"... :)

I wish they'd play more matches at night, because clay court matches can turn into wild affairs, and I'd love to watch a clay court match under the lights with a U.S. Open-style night match atmosphere. Can you imagine matches at Roland Garros that go five sets into the dead of night? That would be awesome.

I've played some clay matches at night before, and it's a blast. Plus I can see the ball better on television.

but most of the matches will be over in the day time.

even the FO final is in the day time, unlike the finals of USO and AO.

I'll take this to the best answer to the question. :)

Wow I never noticed how much bigger Federer's right forearm is bigger than his left. His left arm is a stick! I hope Federer's feet in that photo were a result of bad lighting *shudder*.

I said it before on the previous page but I'll say it again. There's quite a few places that have lights. Rome, Hamburg, Barcelona, Acapulco, Vina Del Mar, Costa Do Sauipe.
