Is it legal to have a piece of paper or a sticker on your racquet that reminds you what to do when you're having an off day in a USTA match? Like on the paper you could write...serves:keep eye on ball through contact, toss to 1'clock and in front of you everytime, beware of tossing too high..etc, volleys: hit through the ball, racquet should not usually be below net level when finishing, groundstrokes..stay on the ground, hit through.....etc

So if you're doing somethign wrong you could try to adjust by looking at the paper. I usually forget all the things Im spose to do when Im having a bad day and so it'll probably help to have something remind me.

Do you really want to look at a sticker on your racquet every time you're having a bad match? Are you one of those guys who wears his keys around his neck? Does your mom still dress you? Don't put a sticker on your racquet, but keep some notes with you in your tennis bag and look at them if you need to during the change overs.

Whatever works. Gilbert had some quirky things to get him going. I am sure Mac did as well.

When I was more competitive back in the day, I would have my hints of my game plan on the racquet. Not everytime on changeovers I went to my bag.

I have seen some players put reminders about Wardlaw Directionals or whatever helped them play better.

Also, because I did this, my mom didn't have to dress me...promise. :)

Putting these things on paper is silly, everybody knows tatoos will last much longer. LOL

Brad Golbert said he carried a notebook for reminders and reviewed them sometimes
in pro tour match. I assume it should be fine in USTA. How about bring your
"little black book" pda with you ???

I've written on my hand. Mainly as a reminder to stay loose. I have a tendency to get tight on my serve and try to muscle it. I write SLAB on the top of my hand. Stay Loose Attack Ball. Works for me.

I tatoo reminders on my forehead and carry around a mirror. If you can't read it it says 'skunx' which is reminder to me to 'skunk' my oppenents!

On a related note, I played with this French exchange student one time who stencilled the male "anatomy" on his strings. To remind him to be "strong" as well as distract his opponents.

You have to wonder if any censorship is present for racquet stencilling. e.g. Would it be legal to stencil curse words and other inappropriate images on a stringbed? Anyone?
