Watch from 10 sec. Notice how Youzhny (slightly) holds on to the racquet with two hands after impact and follows through. Is that a good approach to learning a one-hander?

It is not a popular version but it is "a" version. Normally it is hit with people who favor the bottom-hand grip in the Eastern backhand position.
It is a twohander and then releases the tophand at or near contact. It is a way of hitting it but most people simply keep twohands on the racquet or hit a onehander.
It can be an approach to learning the onehander. A lot of players release the tophand at thigh level after the racquet is brought down.

it's A way of learning the one hander, take it back like you're going to hit a 2 hander, then, zt the last second, let go with your non dominant, (left probably), hand. It's how Don Budge, who had arguably the greatest one hander in history learned and hit his, so there's nothing necessarily wrong with it and if it's works for you go for it.

Is there a case for Youzhny being a closet 2HBHer? ;)

That's jacked up to suggest that Youzhny would be gay. Just because he's slamming his head into frames and fruitin' it around the court doesn't mean much. By the looks of it I wouldn't be talking:

Go to fuzzyyellowballs.com for a detailed instructional video breakdown of different strokes like the one handed backhand.

I have dealt with situations like this with people transitioning from 2h to 1h bh. I believe in separating the 2 swings and learning them individually. The problem I noticed with with type of swinging/learning is that there was too much push from the left or off hand side. Also with 2h BH, most people have a bit of a bent dominant arm when swinging and point of contact. With 1h BH you want a straight extension around the point of contact.
The topspin 1h backhand has a very different feel then a 2h. While you can understand many of the body a ball mechanics with a 2H BH, I think distinguishing and learning the swing style for the 1h is important. This means everything, especially footwork. The topspin 1h BH is much harder to compensate for last minute changes then the 2h BH, thus requiring very good prep, footwork, and timing.

Wow I hope this was all a joke. Seems like it but I don't know.
Regardless, please don't bash other people's play video's though. It's totally unnecessary and discourages people from showing their clips.

You're absolutely right. If I had video of me playing on here, you'd laugh pretty hard. For me, I've accepted my suck. In this case however, I'm gonna have to stand by my post. One should be humble, always. People don't respect others because of what they say, but because of what they do. If you are going to take a stance on something, make sure you have the means to back it up and not that you are just trying to "sound" wise.
