is there any reason the prestige grommets are like they are? only 2 piece instead of 3. more feel? stiffness? any enlightenment would be appreciated

Actually, it's 3 pieces. The throat and 2 side CAP pieces. The CAP system is for protecting the frame and strings... it adds some weight to the head, too.
