Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing this problem and I wonder if it happen to everyone else too or it's just me. I'm having trouble with my tennis elbow recently so I went out and bought an elbow strap (elbow band). Anyways, it creates soreness from all the muscle around my elbow. Is this suppose to happen? Although it did helps my tennis elbow but it injures my whole forearm. Any tips on this? thanks

I am fighting T.E. for the last two years.
6 months ago I started using Aircast elbow strap, and it helped a lot.
These days I feel that my elbow will heal eventually, even though I spend approximately 4 hours on the court, every day.
These straps are supposed to compress muscles that are involved in hitting and redistribute
the stress little differently. I would think that since other muscles are now under the stress
this would cause some initial pain.

Hope this helps.

I posted this link in another thread about TE. This is the only wrap that i used that really worked for me and I tried a bunch. the Air cast you mention would be the 2nd best, but the difference in effectiveness was huge. This one is a little expensive 25.00, but well worth it if it works.

I have used a tight elbow strap, but it stiffened muscles around my elbow. If your TE is acute, acupuncture and vacuum cups will help a lot. Also, temporary change of your play style helps. TE is more closely related with backhand strokes (1HBH) and serves than forehand strokes, because your arm moves outward or is stretched out with backhand strokes and serves. First, avoid pronating your arm radically while serving. Pronation (i.e., with too heavy racquets) causes a great deal of stress on tendon. Second, try to use 2HBH, if you're 1HBH. Use of left arm (for right handy) reduces right arm's fatigue.

This should've been best posted in the Health and Fitness forum.

Check my posting at :
Great Tennis Sites
http://tt.tennis-warehouse.com/showthread.php?t=33800
check the
TE (Tennis Elbow) and Golfer's Elbow
read everything at those sites ...

Also, do a search for
tennis elbow
in the Health and Fitness forum
read all the resulting threads.

As to the strap, it seems it helps, but it reduces the real length of the compressed muscles, as the area under it is not that active any more. However, it's not a cure, just a temporary solution/paleative.

I would say:
- check your racket and strings (including tension); there are rackets and strings which you have to avoid (check the other threads)
- check your technique
- check your arm conditioning

Best: total rest. Then, recondition gradually your arms.

Those sites WILL help, if you let them to.
