I play almost exclusively on hardcourt, but I'm kind of sick of my big heavy barricades. I'm also not terribly impressed by the new look of the b5's, a little too much black and those metallic inserts are obnoxious. Any thoughts on lighter shoes? The Adidas Feathers I gather are really clay court shoes, but does anyone know about the CC Booms? Also, I haven't had much success with Nike or other companies, but does anyone know how the new Vapors compare to other shoes? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't tried them out yet, but the CC Ultimate Edge seem like it would be all right on hard courts.

IMO, the ultimate light hardcourt shoe is definitely the Wilson Open I. I haven't tried the IIs.

I haven't tried the Vapors, but the Asics Resolutions are definitely light feeling hard court shoes. Not as durable as the barricades, but lighter and with more cushioning under your foot.

From the reviews I've read, the Vapors definitely fit and play more like match game shoes than the Barricades. However, they will not match the Barricades for durability.

The Feather 2's are much more hardcourt orientated, then the 3's concentrate much more on clay again. So the feather 2's, or the cages are very, very light and manouverable. I use barricades and the original Cage 1's and if your looking for an excellent lightweight shoe I'd definately recommend the Cages.

Hi mate - I use the Adidas Feather 111's for clay and have just started using the CC Boom's on hard. The Boom's are really light but aren't as narrow as the feathers. They are also longer for the same size than the feathers. They feel pretty good, are very light, very soft but they are slightly too big for me unfortunately. My initial impression is that durability may not be their strong point.

If I was to order the Boom again I'd get half a size smaller than my Feathers.

I really liked the Yonex 305's. Have not tried the new 306's though.

I tried on the CC Ultimate Edge shoes at a local pro shop and I've got to say they are very impressive.

- They are more cushioned than the Feathers
- Wider in the toe area than both the Feathers and the CC Boom
- Seem to offer plenty of ventilation
- Their arch is a bit higher than the Barricades
- Weight is very low for a shoe built for all-court use

I'm planning on buying a pair for claycourt play, as well as for match play on hardcourts.

I would agree, but watch out that you don't break the plastic pieces that go around the side of the foot. I broke them on three consecutive pairs (luckily they were free). :)

How do they look in person?

How do they look in person?

They only had the white version in stock, which is why I didn't buy them then and there. They did look alright, however.

They reminded me much more of the Boom and Feather series (light shoes) than the Barricade series.

I've been eyeing them, just concerned about durability

I tried the Ultimate Edge at the Adidas store and I must say they're VERY comfortable - immediately went home and ordered the black ones. They look very cool and I can't wait to give them a try.

They seemed to be Adidas' answer to the BF II success - with the benefits of a better, BIV-like sole.

I have never done this with any of the three pairs that I have owned.

I currently have the old booms (not the edge version). They are really light and have great ventilation. Some negatives are that they aren't the most comfortable, hurt the outer edge of my left foot, and they aren't very durable. I can already see wear after using them for eight matches.

I'm actually thinking about switching to the Barricade V or NB 1200 for more traction and better durability.

the babolat allcourt 3s are pretty nice. theyre light and hav good traction. one thing it needs is some more cushion, might want to add an extra insole or something
