Duzza
05-14-2008, 11:51 PM
I think he means the Leveller tournaments where you play a deciding match then get put into a group depending on how well you did in those matches.
I used to love those things, 4 trophies for 5 days tennis wasn't bad :D I still have a lot of those trophies haha.
baghdatis
05-15-2008, 12:10 AM
Ah yes I know what ya mean. I played one last year and ended runner up. Not too bad.
This was actually a masters event after a whole series of tounries.
Duzza, U playin any opens this year? Or just pennant?

05-15-2008, 01:51 AM
I've really stuffed myself up, cause I'm not at uni this year but my new job can demand me there pretty much any day of the week. I've been in training 9-6 weekdays the last 3 weeks so pennant has been a shocker, but next week starting shifts from 7-1 so hopefully my tennis will get back on track.....
Hopefully play some tournaments a bit later down the track, atm don't see much point cause I'm playing really terribly :D

This is the Australian Tournaments Page.
There are tons of tournaments and I think the only regulation is that u can't enter two different tournaments during the same time.
Have any Idea what date u are coming here?

St. Bernard's in Essendon? Mad. If u live in that area maybe we could have a hit..
There's a good tournament with Aus Ranking points in Ringwood Starting on the 9th.
But yea coz u would have just arrived, wait until August/September for the next Optus tournies.

does anyone know what the cost for stringing is in australia? For example, i am bringing a tennis stringing machine over with me and i would like to know how much to charge people to string if they provide the string. Also, how much to charge if i provide a cheap synthetic gut string for them.

About $15 a string job with their string. Cheap syn gut is about $22:)

He can charge more than that..... In most pro shops they charge like $50 for some crappy Synth Gut like Wilson Stamina. Natural Gut is like $100 and Poly can be around 60. Luxilon is $80 here in a pro shop. Very very overpriced. If you string for a friend then of course string it cheaper but Syn guts he can charge like 30, Poly's 40 etc. Strings cost a lot here compared to America.

Many many shops charge those prices in Melbourne. Tension 24, Prelli racquets... theres a few more shops around that restring for that amount. The price is so high because there are very few Pro shops around in Melbourne.. demand is highish but not many places around so customers have no choice. Luckily I bought a stringing machine last year!

do you think i should offer 20 for their string. 30 for syn. guts, and 40 for poly (or 35?). Does that sound good?

Yeap that sounds good..actually maybe a tad cheaper on the Syn gut.

He's won a round in future qualies @15 and i assume gets direct entry into most amt, though can't enter to many yet because of age restrictions.
He's doing alright. Though still got some way to catch kubler. :P
