Which racquet had the best graphics/paintjob ever? Here's one vote for the Prince NXG Tour. Love the green and silver!

Wilson NSix One Tour 90.

I love the graphics on this stick. Only downside is that the paint is rather flimsy and does wear off and begin to show you the white paint under the red.

True. I have never played with a Yonex. But I was tempted to buy Hewitt's old stick the RDX 500 mid just for the paint job. But, um didn't end up buying it. I hear it feels really nice.

Yep, always loved the AG300 paintjob.

But for me, its a toss up between the Babolat Aero Storm, and the Pure Storm Tour. There is something about having red on my frame and a matt finish that is a must when I look at cosmetics..

Those Aeros look good! It was a toss up for me I stayed away from them cause I didn't like how the APDC felt. Still wana demo the Aero storm though, didn't like how the pure control felt. See to me the APDC and Pure Control were on opposite ends of the racquet spectrum and I needed something in between and the AG300 feels that void. The nBlade is a beautiful stick also.

That happens to be my rec/tennis, stringing room and only special frames get to hang on the walls. The MW200g was never a go-to stick for me, but it's just so classic and pretty, I had to give her some space on the wall... :-)

Hi BP,

Yeah, PK is probably placing its bet on the venerable Black Ace heritage. And I must say the new stick lives up to the name!

This new BA is also available in Italy, as seen on PK Italy website. However, the 93 size is something of an "impossible" to get. On PK Italy's site, only the 98 is shown. In Thailand, only the 98 is available on the shelves.

Xube was so kind and somehow got the 93 for me straight from PK. It seems the 93 I have is probably the only one in ASEAN as there was no order (not enough min order) for it into this region of the world. I don't know how Xube did it but I've pestered him since October last year ... and got the stick in April, exactly one month ago.

The photo I took looks nice as you don't get to see the shininess of the PJ -- which gets scratched very, very easily when I shanked. It's too shiny for my taste.

But, it's PJ aside, it plays nice like the MG Prestige -- at half the price, stiffer than Redondo and shares the same grommet set as the Heritage range so there's no problem with "spare parts".

The thing is ... it's 18x20 ... it may not be something you like ... too bad.

Rd 7 is the all time best looking racquet. Thanks for the pics.

I also like the Prestige Classic.

Yes, I totally agree with you. The RD-7 is ONE of the all time best looking racket. Not many rackets can pull off flashy and understated at the same time and make both camps (i.e. the Agassi Radical bumblebee-Donnay/Pure Drive type lovers and the Pro Staff/POG type lovers) come out happy...this is definitely one of them.

The key is the fire-glow ESSENCE that is this frame. The paint job truly had a mesmerizing holographic quality to it. Flash it under the right shade of sun, and it would literally light up and glow dynamically like a fire-GLO illusion...like a Bruguera flicking topspin pass; while on an overcast day, it would look subdued and muted, yet classy, I would say dignified...like Malivai Washington.

I would say another racket that like the RD-7 has a simply inspired paint job and would make any person happy, is the Fischer Vacuum Pro 90. The Stich cosmetic version, with the purple, pink, copper, silver, and sky blue hues was all over the place in the color spectrum. Best way to describe the racket was that is was the pastel of all pastels, yet not in a Hello Kitty way. The exposde layup is what added just enough touch of a manly, mechanical, exterior to make it seem both lovely and industrial at the same time.

To me, these are my two favorite paint jobs of all time hands down.

Other honorable mentions: the classic understated, MUTE maroon-red finish of the Prestige Classic has stood the test of time like fine wine. The RD-Ti 70, I don't know what to say, but as Raven Simone would say, now, that's just HOTTT, with a capital T. Ferrari red, what more needs to be said? The other racket not many no about but that I think has THE single most inspired paint job of all time is the Yonex Cyborg 2700. This racket had the grand slams names, insignias, layered all over it in a way that was bordering on a modern art masterpiece that you could literally see in a museum and not blink twice thinking to yourself why is a tennis racket here? It's design really was that fine, that inspired. It's a racket where you pick it up and think this is a one of a kind collectible made for a celebrity with too much money on their hands like Paris Hilton. It's pure Beverly Hills boutique shop category here. You truly wonder if this racket was made for hitting, or just for show, the sheen and gloss is that pearlescent.

Great descriptions! I think Im going to check the bay for rd7s after I write this :) (I tried to but an rd7 off some random lady at the courts last year but she wouldnt sell out) I agree with you about the RD Ti70 also. Theres something about red racquets although I dont really like that color in general (I would never own a red car for instance).

Unfortunately - I lost the RD Ti70 Long last week. I was playing the two RDTi 70 and accidentally left the 98 (long) behind the court. I went back and its gone! I am so mad at myself!

Love looking at the detailed PJ.

Matted Black on the exterior
Glossy Yellow interior
Fire Red and Silver stripes
Translucent coating highligthing the weaved braid on the throat.

Hands down the Head MicroGEL Radical Team. After that, the W Kzero (I love that color), APDC, and the Microgel Prestiges

This is sort of meaningless thread; really, somebody might really like neon colors or tribal graphics, while another might think those sorts of things look foolish.

I tend to think, along similar lines with fashion, art, music, and automobiles, if the racket is going to look stupid ten years from now, or if I'd be embarrassed to be seen playing with it, then it looks stupid NOW. To that end, I really dislike any sort of chubby, puffy looking frame with brash graphics so large that they are falling off the side of the racket (Babolat, Technifiber, recent Fischers, pity), or any racket that simply gives me a headache looking at it (the "candy cane" Head Microgel series, Dunlop AG's, recent Wilsons, most recent Völkls).

Rackets whose graphics I like:

The original Head Prestige Pro, circa 1988, with its rich, lustrous, velveteen-like brown/burgundy paint and tan leather grip;

The 1987 Kneissl "Masters" line (the Masters 30 and Masters 10 shown here):
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s144/retrowagen/Kneissl/kneissl1987-10-30-comparo.jpg

The 1983-1985 Snauwaert line-up with the stripes running around the face of the racket, like this 1984 Graphite Dyno, for instance:
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s144/retrowagen/Snauwaert/dyno.jpg

The original Prince Comp and Prince Graphite (before they inserted the word "Graphite" on the crossbar circa 1987, that is)

And, of course, the classic black Donnay frames of the 1970's-early 1980's looked the business, what with their calculated typeography and sporty but tasteful colorblock stripes on the matte black background.

I also liked the Wilson ProStaff Classic 6.1 (rainbow on the inner and outer edges of the frame), but not the Pro Staff Classic 6.0; the stripe curling partway around the head and the cheesy "Pro Staff" typefont always looked cheap and silly to me (even when the racket came out in 1984).

I guess we all have different taste.

I agree! I like the old graphics with the yellow detail, very retro.

Also, the entire RD line (except for the garrish, short-circuited, toxic waste dump graphics that was the RD-23), not just the fabled topspin-sliceroni, the RD-7, was phenomenally gorgeous and inspired in design.

The RD-27, was 'modern' high-end, high-rise Penthouse styling you'd fine in the hands of a cougar near you.

When I think of the RD-3, I think of crouching tiger, purple dragon permanently embossed in silver. Very stylin'.

When I think of the RD-8, I start humming, "if Avril Lavigne were a Japanese skater girl..." this was the racket that told me, HEY, this classic company's got a little PUNK in it, you dig?

Truly, there has never been a more inspired line of racket cosmetics from TOP (the RD-7/27) to BOTTOM (the RD-3) than the RD-line in my opinion, which should have stood for "Revolutionary (Fashion Forward) Design". At the time of its introduction, the graphics felt future-forward and almost sci-fi to me. I remember just being BLOWN AWAY and a loss for words for them the first time I saw them and held one in my hand.

What made them special was that you didn't get the feeling that Yonex had just decided to slap on some random color swatches and call it new like racket companies usually do. No. With the RD line it was not like looking at a racket, it was like looking at the palm of a human hand featured in different shades and hues and blues (as in I'm singing the blues and sad jazz music is playing in the background), each with its own unique lifeline and veins coursing through it.
