View Full Version : Prince NXG MP

I just bought a Prince NXG MP after demoing for a week. Liked it a lot while demoing. Have used a Pure Drive for the last year.
I am starting to feel some soreness in my shoulder.
Using Tonic natural gut at 60 lbs.
Anyone else have shoulder issues with the NXG?
Same thing happened to me...I demoed and then purchased an NXGraphite OS. Lo and behold, 2 weeks later, my shoulder was starting to hurt (I've never had a problem there before). That was enough to hang it up (I also noticed other posters mentioning shoulder soreness)...I went back to my POG OS & no more problems.
I just think the whole "More" thing is a terrible concept...give the racquet supposedly better feel by removing the grommets, but then negate the effect with an air handle (the air handle IMO sucks all of the fun out of a racquet...since when did "dead" become a desired characteristic!).

So far, the racket feels like Jekyll and Hyde to me, sometimes
when i'm hitting well w/ it, it feels awesome, sometimes it feels
totally stiff w/ the muted feel of the racket contributing to
I've also experienced some minor shoulder problems but the
soreness usually comes after a bad hitting day. Coming from a
POG mid, I have a pretty big swing and I think that is were the
problem is. So far I've discovered that I don't have to work
as hard w/ the NXG as I had to with the POG and that timing
is critical w/ the NXG. When I'm not trying to do so much w/
the ball and just let the racket do the work for me I tend to
hit some amazing, unexpected shots, whereas when I'm trying
too hit hard and mis-time my shots I end up with out balls and
shoulder pain. Definitely, I find that the NXG is less forgiving
than the POG, but I think the benefit is a more penetrating/
aggressive ball on a well-timed shot.
Hope this is helpful, and sorry if this doesn't make too much
sense as I'm also trying to figure this racket out. Please
let me know how things go for you w/ this racket.

I used this racket when it was in the experimental phase over a three week period and gave up because my forearm and elbow tendons became very sensitive (to the point where I couldn't hit a forehand).
I don't have the problem with the Diablo.

I've been playing with this racquet for about a month now. I'm a 4.5 playing 2-3 times a week. I also tested this racquet and it's OS cousin extensively for 3 weeks before purchasing the MidPlus. I have not experienced one arm problem. With the Prince NXG I feel I get a little more pop and spin on all my shots compared to the 6.1. Contol is also excellent.
FYI. My old stick was a HPS 6.1.
