View Full Version : Once upon a time I owned a Prince...

I am hoping someone can point me in a direction of finding a racquet i once owned. I was to believe it was a higher end racquet as it was given to me by a buddy playing at the Saddlebrook tennis school in Fl with Jennifer Capriati. He gave me a Prince racquet that he wasn't using anymore. It was grey in color and the one thing I remember was that it had a area in the throat that was squishy. I don't know if it was meant as a vib dampener as it was build into the frame.

Anyway, I made it look like Pacman one day and threw it out, which was stupid. Unfortunately I have no idea what the frame actually was called and would love to come across it again one day.

Time frame I'd guess was that I received it in about 1991 and would guess it was a couple years old.

If you have any idea at all I'd be curious to hear from you.

Sounds like a Synergy DB26 to me. Believe it or not, I know folks who are still using them. A wonderfully comfortable frame.

Sounds like a Prince CTS Lightning 90. You see these cropping up on e-bay once in a while......

If it was, very roughly, circa 1989/90 it could be the Prince GraphTec DB which came out in 1988 and was the first in Prince's line of double-bridge (db) frames.

Closest to the one you describe of the current Prince offerings is the TT Warrior (Rafter racquet), which is itself on the way out I believe.

Thanks for playign along! I can remember it only having a single bridge, if that helps. ANt eh squshy area was thin and ran along the bridge.

Also, I'm not looking for a new racquet similar to it I was hoping to find one just like it just for old times sake. Also, sorry for the typing mess above. I really need an edit button.

DB26 or Lightning probably. I think the Lightning was the newer version, but I don't remember for sure. I have a Graduate, similar time frame, but it doesn't have the vibration absorbing stuff in the bridge.

Was it the mid size or the OS?

If it's a DB26, those are popping up on the bay for real cheap.

Another good frame is the DB24, which has even more control and feel than the DB26 IMO.

The Synergy range came around in the early 90s.
So it would have been AFTER the CTS Lightning.
Ironically Capriati used both the CTS Lightning and the DB26 Synergy.

That's exactly the racquet. I'm looking at one as I type this. Bought it around '92. Still hits great! :)

Give the TT Warrior a shot... it incorporates 'Triple Threat' Technology... it can sing, dance AND act!

My friend uses a CTS lightning and I cant remember seeing a vibration damper.
I might be wrong though.

The DB26 looks pretty familiar! I remember my old frame was NOT the OS so it must have been the MP. I've got my eye on one from the auction site but I won't buy stuff there anymore. I'll go post a "Wanted" ad soon.

Also, I emailed flyswater regarding the racquet you mentioned. Let's keep it at email to avoid trouble's with TW and the rules.

By your username, I suspect you are too a fellow fly fisherman?
