I felt like I noticed the high forehands hit by some pros does NOT have a long takeback like say when hitting a low or normal high forehand
OR/AND is there a slight delay/acceleration within the swing just before hitting the ball?

For example, see this clip -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72tJ0E0vMys

That video does not seem to show a short takeback to me.
Normally, since it is hard to get power on a high ball, a LARGER takeback is needed.
Unless you do what I do and hit a "whipping the bullwhip" type swing which does
not need much of a backswing.

you don't want a full backswing if you are moving into the court as obviously the court availability reduces (in length) so extra power isn't ideal. This is most likely to happen off a "short" ball (low) or a pop up ball (high)
