I've been playing this frame exclusively for about 4 months now, so would like to give an update which far surpasses honeymoon stage.

Havent even hit another racquet in this time as there has been nothing new from Volkl/becker since altho some nice things are in the works/planning stages. Also declined to hit the latest from the Wilson and the Head

For me, the tale of the tape was going to come when the temps soared. A matter of swinging a racquet fast enough at the end of my sessions in the heat. The heat indexes have been well above 100 and I'm not having any trouble with batspeed at the end of my sessions..the barometer for me is if i am able to hit over on the backhand and still make the 2nd serve jump at the end of my sessions. Contrast that w. the bb10Mid and B11Standard which beat me up at the end. I would have happily stayed with the B11Std if it wasnt so much work for me on 2nd serves

The only drawback to this frame I have seen is that I sometimes wish for a slightly larger sweetzone when the dirt is in particularly foul shape. I think the frame can cost me a couple points and some weak/short balls then and even the occassional lost point otherwise. Otherwise, I am really happy with this frame and what I am able to make it do. terrific on everything, and particularly the volley as I can really pierce the clay on the volley (best volleying racquet i've ever tried). I also like that it is a bit less spinny than the 98's I usually play so that too allows the ball to pierce the court from the ground. I can tend to spin the ball too much off the ground at the expense of the ball moving thru the court. The tradeoff is that those short angles with big net clearance are a bit tougher to come by, but that is a good tradeoff. It isnt the best at the sliced backahand ever for me, but if you step on the sliced backhand it will do its job well. For me the Gen1 and DNX9 really excel in that department. Particularly the dnx9 since it is lighter in weight

I also just love the ball feel. I am still using the Mojo setup (perhaps for a couple years now) and have settled in on 57/62 for this time of year, but keep one looser and one tighter.

Hope all of the other 11Mid users are still doing well their sticks too. later on.

NBMJ, thanks for the update review...
when you mentioned sometimes you wished for slightly larger sweetspot ... how does the sweetspot of bb11 compare to dnx-10 mid ?
i just bought the gen 1, and found it more easy to swing, and have larger sweetspot than the dnx mid.. however on the ground strokes, the dnx mid hits more "heavier ball"..
how do you compare the bb11mid to the gen 1..?
thanks..

Bagung, I figured by now you would have bought one already. ;)

I bought one 11 Mid recently and the feel is not that different from the 11 Std. The major difference is the lower swingweight, allowing better maneuverability at net and slightly more pop on the serve. It also pings like the 11 Std so I pop a dampener in there and the ping is suppressed some. I have not spent a lot of time with it but those are my initial impressions.

I have to wait till mid june to pick up the bb11 mid, as it is not available in my country..
lower SW than 11 std is a good news for me..
thanks..

What are the figures on these swingweight differences? I read somewhere recently that static weight virtually doesn't matter, for in fact it all comes down to swingweight and what you can keep swinging late into a match.

sure. i would say the dnx10mid has a very slightly larger sweetzone. I used the gen1 for about 4 years, and the sweetzone on that frame is HUGE, so on that basis, the sweetzone on the 11Mid is significantly smaller. The biggest diff I notice between the b11Mid and the Gen1 other than the ball feel, is that I have more preciseness w. the 11Mid...I have found the power levels between the two to be similar when getting the string tension right. i also think to make the b11Mid that easy to swing given it's weight and balance is rare.

Has Craig updated his thoughts on it lately? I know he received the frame with the new pallet.

yes, i think it's in the other bb11 mid thread.

PS. Mods (no offence Mojo) can you please tack this thread onto the end of the original BB11 Mid thread. The one I pasted above.

thanks NBMJ..
i do find the sweetspot of gen 1 huge, and much easier to swing than the dnx-10mid....
"more preciseness w. the 11 mid" is the point i am looking for, as i found the gen 1 is lacking of... ' surprising power" is what i meant from time to time that i got from the gen 1.....

Of course!

so is what you use...have you hit the Becker V1? when what i am using gets to be a little too much for my game, that one would be a good choice.

BTW, NBMJ, do you have the SW for the BB11 mid?

According to TW: SW = 330

According to a competitor in Ohio: SW = 327

According to another competitor in Maryland: SW = 327

To me: 327-330 feels about right.

The official Volkl swingweight of the dnx10Mid is 325. The 11mid's effective swingweight is significantly less and my target and max swingweight is 320.

had my first hit tonight after putting a poly/syn hybrid in. big hitter mains @54 and forten sweet crosses @56. first thing i noticed was that this racquet has much more power than originally thought. i think a poly/syn will be the way to for me and higher up in the tension range. and i'm still not sure it's better than the dnx10. maybe i'm just not comfy with it yet. but there's something about holding the dnx10, it feels like you have a precision weapon in your hands. and i love the feel of the beam shape when i'm holding the throat with my off hand. not the same feelings i have with the BB11. i have yet to find my control and shot placement with the bb11 that i have with the dnx10. i've lost my inside out forehand and can find the zone on my down the line shots. cross court is not bad. i do feel that i have a more improved backhand slice though, more piercing, but with less control. at least one more hit with this string setup before i cut them out and ramp up the tension. 59/57 or something like that.

NBMJ,

Is the Iso-speed Pro Classic at TW the same as before? Also, hows the Becker 11 Mid on the wrist?

NBMJ,

Also, hows the Becker 11 Mid on the wrist?

i had a little fright last night when i played. i felt a little twinge in my wrist and thought, oh no! keep in mind, i've never had wrist problems and don't want any. but i think it was due to something else as that twinge went away after a few minutes.

Tonight we hit on an absolutely horrible clay court...frame balls dont even cause your wrist any angst w. the 11Mid <as long as you are stringing w. something reasonable, at a reasonable tension, and have reasonable technique>..this coming from an older wrist w. lots of miles on it

hi. no, they are diff strings. the new iso pro is a nice string which plays more like a multi and the iso pro classic gives you more of a poly result without the pain and lack of ball feel

For clarity - is the current isospeed pro classic in stock at TW the same string as that which gives the "poly" result - or is it gone forever?

yes, the Classic is the same Classic as before..comes on a prestretched reel. The New Isopro doesnt have the same playing properties and plays more like a multi.

BB11 Mid users,

What tensions and set ups are you using/demoing/settled on?

Mojo, looks like you've settled in on tensions higher in the range, 57/62. Is there any concern when venturing out of the recommended range of 50-60?

nope... other than i dont think stringing one of these up at 65 w. poly would be such a great idea

My one BB 11 mid is at 57/62 with the mojo setup. Nice pop good control love the "looks like its going out then drops like a stone & lands in"

very interesting racquet great for sv all court tennis, haven't had a chance to play doubles with it yet. great feel & touch and just wicked at net. I can't flick it like the k-blade tour but it seems to play defense a bit better I'll post a bit more later afer a set or so of double and more singles

Nice how that happens isnt it? this setup is the best of both worlds...not quite the type of spin of a full poly or even a gut/poly hybrid, but none of the many drawbacks of those setups

It is quite nice. Just a bit disconcerting until you get used to it. The guys I hit with don't care for it much though. I've watched them back off the ball thinking its going out only to have it drop well in.

Champions choice with the gut in the mains at 60 and the lux at 57 isn't bad either. Gives a bit crisper firmer stringbed IMHO. Its just not quite as comfortable when playing against adolescent males who have 3 speeds (hard, harder & I think the tennis ball is screaming.)
