According to what I know, Marcelo Rios started playing at 11 yrs and went on to be No.1 although he dint win any Grand Slam.
Other than that I guess its Ivan Ljubicic who started playing at 9.
Not sure on all the info but correct me if I am wrong.

This topic has popped up 2-3 times before. Running a search on this wouldn't be easy but you could still give it a try.

A friend of mine is starting to play tennis next weekend, he will win not the Wimbledon, but the US Open 2008(Wimbledon is too soon)

^ Your friend must be a great athlete. Just like Djokovic, who hasn't even technically started playing yet but, despite that, is number 3 in the world. Amazing.

Didn't Pioline start at 14 or 15 or something?

We're on the same page, but that guy with the friend is not quite getting it.
