If you were awful enough to delight in John McCain's prebuttal speech trainwreck , feast your eyes on the Fox News commentators trying to decide if it was just bad or downright terrible.

I know that it makes absolutely no difference to how the man will lead. But, I do think that it will affect how people vote. He always sounds really old.

I wonder how long before you get banned again?

I'm pretty sure that it was your posts that got your banned, so digging up the old ones probably isn't the best of ideas. :D ;)

Both have stopped by my local town and I got to speak briefly with both;

McCain even though is a poor public speaker, is more genuine and authentic then Obama.

Obama to me, was fake and is more of the lying type.

Republicans were never the best public speakers; 2x Bushes, McCain, Ford!

Democrats were always the best public speakers; 2x Clintons, Obama, Kennedys, Gore, etc.

I know that it makes absolutely no difference to how the man will lead.You don't think being able to communicate effectively and inspire people have anything to do with being a good leader?

It may make them a good leader but in what direction? That's the part that it doesn't help us understand.

Current president can just barely string together sentences so it must not be that big of a deal.

I wonder, if he is so uncomfortable with the teleprompter, why not just give a speech the traditional way;

Paper infront of you on the podium?

It may make them a good leader but in what direction? That's the part that it doesn't help us understand.What I'm saying is regardless of what their ideology is, being able to communicate effectively and inspire people is a big part "how the man will lead." Maybe we're splitting hairs here. It's clear that America doesn't really want a great leader. There's a very strong anti-intellectual bent in America, and America, for the past 8 years at least, seems to want a guy who does the best job of convincing the people they're just as misinformed, religious, bigoted, and vengeful as them. They won't want somebody challenging them to be greater than they are, they want a parrot expressing their inner thoughts and telling them they're perfect just the way they are. Anyway, in terms of what direction he will take us, I think McCain has been pretty open about his stances. Any bit of idealism he may have once had seems to have been completely amputated at this point. He is mini-Bush.

Well, there is more than one way to communicate. But, either way. I disagree with the politician/voter relationship. The best way I heard it described recently was that politicians "hold up a mirror" to try and tell the voters to vote for themselves. If that makes sense.

McCain spoke recently at our Town Hall in front of a mostly hand-picked friendly audience. He stuttered and deflected the subject when confronted with a question from a Vet re: McCain's voting record for Veterans; he admitted that he "flip flopped" on issues such as oil drilling, tax cuts, and abortion; and he appeared scripted and very fake. Whenever a question was asked that was not on his note card "cheat sheet" he came across as very evasive and non-informed (or prepared). Not very impressive at all and I don't see him doing very well when confronted with tough questions and real issues...especially in debates with Obama who comes across as much more knowledgable and genuine.

You can wait and hope, but we're never going to see another person with the charisma of Al Gore again.

Well, there is more than one way to communicate. And which one does McCain excel at?But, either way. I disagree with the politician/voter relationship. Okay, but how is this:The best way I heard it described recently was that politicians "hold up a mirror" to try and tell the voters to vote for themselves.If that makes sense.Any different from this:... America, for the past 8 years at least, seems to want a guy who does the best job of convincing the people they're (he's) just as misinformed, religious, bigoted, and vengeful as them... they want a parrot expressing their inner thoughts and telling them they're perfect just the way they are.I'm just being more specific. Yes, America wants somebody who seems just like them. This is troublesome depending on how impressed you are by most Americans.

This election is a no-brainer but America will always find a way to shoot itself in the foot and then complain about how much it hurts.

America is looking for a PERFECT candidate, the perfect person, and they laugh at both of the candidate's failings, even the tiniest ones like getting a word wrong. And if the candidate doesn't do anything wrong, then the failing is that they are TOO perfect and therefore must be fake. So they'll vote for the other guy, then later complain about how flawed he is. But at least he's not perfect.

^ I think America is obsessed with not having anybody criticize them. For a while, they liked the fact Bush made them feel smart. It felt good to feel like you're on the same level as the President. But after the mess he's made, I think America is ready to swallow their pride and let a smarty pants take over for a while.
