Is he using a diablo or has no one bothered to re-paint his rackets?

It's not. I saw his "Diablo" a couple of years ago at Indianapolis up close.

The specs are nowhere near either the mid or midplus diablo. It is longer (not just .25 inch longer like the stock Diablo midplus, and has an insanely long handle) and the string pattern is different from the stock Diablos.

It's been discussed here before. It's a Diablo paint job over a different racquet or a custom mold. I'm sure someone knows for sure.

It's a precision Retro MP XL under the paint of a Diablo (strung with Babolat fibertour), a model i think came out only in Europe.

A little Malisse history:
Malisse used Pro Kennex in his younger years (1995-1996)
when he joined the pro's he switched to POG longbody (1998 ) later he also used the Michael Chang precision longbody (around 1999) In Januari 2000 he even played with a Volkl Q10 tour but not for long cos not much later he switched eventually to the Precision retro XL , in august 2001 he played with PJ of the Rebel and then the Diablo.

Here a pic of Malisse with the original Precision Retro in april 2001:

I've noticed the super long handle before too, and I think it's way longer than 27.5".

That's what i've always been told yeah.

I actually saw some with a TT Rebel PJ on E&ay a few days ago and they went for a good price, I think the seller was a member of this forum actually.

Several of the non_American players use 28 inch frames. 10 to 12 years ago when the longer frames hit the market they were juniors who tried it and could handle the higher resultant swing weight.

Alejandro Falla uses a long Babolat.
