I have noticed that many pros (like moya) use the old pure drive team instead of the new model with the cortex?Whys that ?does it play better-different?
any opinions??

It's about feeling, pro's don't like to switch a lot, most are very superstitious, it doesnt nessecerly play better but you can say it plays different...
If you give Moya todays PD customized to his specs i don't believe he would play better or worser but in his mind it could change.
Btw: the first PD's were a little flexier.

Hm, Moya's racket has 70 RA - are the actual PD's stiffer?

I heard Moya used a slightly smaller version.

Yeah, but it's at least 10 pts head heavy from what I can remember. I think Jura did the specs on it. He swings an absolute club.

my understanding is that moya actually uses the predecessor of the pure drive, i think it's called the soft drive or something like this.

It's the first pure drive that wasn't sold in the States. Well before their Woofer garbage.

Could you show us a picture of that pure drive? I'd like to see it. And woofer garbage? Really? ahahaha. I actually really like how that woofer thing feels.

He doesn't use the old pure drive... it's a paint job. He actually uses the soft drive (weighted), Babolat painted it for him as the pure drive isn't on their performance range. I know this because a friend of mine works for babolat in the design and manufacturing section.

Moya uses the old pure drive without having to use the new pj is because he is the first babolat player to make a noise, so they just let him to do whatever he wants. He gets priority because he is one of the people who made babolat a big brand name.

if moya is using the soft drive why doesn't babolat do a PJ of the "new" cortex version

Well, tell your friend he is wrong, according to Thomas Martinez (a well respected member here) he uses the original Pure Drive with a balance of 35cm!

I've strung a number of first and second generation Pure Drive sticks (sans Cortex), and in my opinion, they are much more solid and do not wiggle around and/or deform in the machine nearly as much as the newer versions. Again, this is just my opinion :?

Take care and have a good week!

Yeah, I highly doubt that Moya is using the Soft Drive .
