Abs/core muscles will certainly help but there are a lot of other factors as well.

It's mostly the forward momentum of your body, the turning of the hips, and the bending of the knees which allow for maximum power.

just start yelling VAMOS!! after every one of them. That should help. ;)

It can't be the abs because I can hit big forehands and my core is weak. It's the shoulder turn and racquet speed.
