I was hitting and noticed that when I was stepping into the ball(open stance) I find that Im almost hopping with my rear foot and finish with my forward(outside) foot planted and draging my toe with my rear(inside) foot

That doesn't sound good. If I read you right, you seem to be dragging the foot on the follow through. The case where a lot of people drag a foot is on the serve and on low wide backhands where they'll drag the rear foot for balance.

Learn to stay on your toes and not drag your feet except in extreme cases. It will save you a lot of money on shoes.:)

i do that in badminton but not in tennis for some reason. i hate doing it too. feels like it slows me down. i think its your footing technique that cause you to do that.

I'm so horrible at this. I just bought a brand new pair of shoes (maybe 5 days old) and there's already a hole in it. Usually, it takes me two months to go through a pair. This is definitely a new record.

The one time that happened to me my toe caught a little too much ground and I fell on my face... so I'm inclined to say it's bad... or at least if you're gonna, make sure the toe only brushes the ground. Otherwise, you could be eating court.
