View Full Version : Which string for cheap stiff racquets? (needs to be durable)

I often string for friends and generally use Gosen Sheep Micro 17. Recently I was asked to string a couple of cheap (i.e. very stiff) Wallyworld-style rackets (Wilson US Open and Wilson Titanium Impact). I did so, and the guys broke the strings within 10 hours of play. Can someone suggest a good cheap durable reel I should keep on hand for rackets like these? (key word being "durable") Should I just go with a 15ga tournament nylon? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I couldn't agree more. These are a couple of guys I don't know, however, (friends of friends), so I don't really feel it's my place ot tell them to upgrade.

Forten Nylon 15 gauge, or Ashaway Liberty 15.?

I'd go for the tournament nylon; strung price frequently seen about is $10. Toa's Leoina 66 has a good reputation among local tournament players, though slightly more expensive.

OR USE gUITAR STRINGS. THEY MIGHT BE EXPENSIVE BUT THEY NEVER EVER BREAK!
