Hello,

I've been playing with Pro Supex Big Ace 18g (1.22) for about 6 months now. I really like the string, and think it has added some additional pop to my game, particulary my serve.

However, as someone who plays a lot of doubles as well as singles, and plays serve & volley more often than not in singles, I feel I could use a bit more touch/feel/crispness on my volleys than i'm getting.

To achieve this, i'm thinking of trying a hybrid setup with Big Ace in the mains, and something else in the crosses. Does anyone have any suggestions on a good match for the crosses with Big Ace in the mains, given that I am trying to get greater touch/feel? Preferrably, i'd like this to not come at the expense of having to give up the additional pop I get from the Big Ace. Also, would you use different tensions on the mains/crosses with this type of setup?

For just a bit more background, I played D3 college tennis, and i'm a pretty solid USTA 4.5 player. I use a Head MicroGel Extreme racquet (16m x 19c) and with the Big Ace, i've been stringing it in the 52-54 range.

Any ideas, thoughts, recommendations, suggestions, etc. are much appreciated.

Thanks!

My set up on my ksix one tour is Pro Supex blue gear (I like it better than Big Ace) and Pro Supex Maxim Touch in the crosses. I love it and I heard that that combination (with big ace and maxim touch) works micarcles. Try the blue gear though, It has everything big ace has and much more spin.

Thanks BarricadeV.

Are you using the same tension for the mains & crosses with that Blue Gear/Maxim Touch setup?

obviously, if you can afford it, use Natural Gut.

Big Ace works great w/ Pro Supex Titan syn gut. I get too much power and not enough spin w/ the Max Touch cross. However, the MT works great w/ Blue Gear mains--use the 1.28 BG as it provides more spin IMO. I strung my stick at 53/56, but would probably go to 54/57 next time. The only problem w/ this setup is it goes dead and crosses are done/snap in about 8-10hrs. But those first 4-6hrs are great!!

Try Gosen micro or PSGD
I have BA and Gosen in my ncode 6.1. The colors look sweet too. Red BA and white Gosen.

i have one of my n6.1s strung up with BA 1.22 m's and Bab Xcel Power 1.25 x's... feels ok.. the Xcel strings are not as soft as most multis, it's firmer... so the bed is firm with this set up... nice spin, nice control.

the one's i've tried with big ace are maxim touch, syn gut titan, and spiral flex. didn't like titan as much cause it was too soft for my likings. as of right now i'm going string up my new racquets with ba/mt and ba/sf and decide which i like better. hope that helps

i use big ace and blue gear in two of my n6.1 95s. i use gosen og sheep micro 17 for the crosses in both of them. very durable synthetic with good feel. i also like prince synthetic gut in crosses too, whether it be paired with a pro supex string or not.

I second the opinion re: Gosen sheep micro as a cross. It works well with a co-poly main. I also have a customer that swears by Pacific Powerline as a cross string with his poly mains.....I can't argue because the guy is about a 5.5 and playing really well with the setup (FXP Prestige).

Gosen would be good for a crisper feel, or Forten Sweet for a slightly softer feel.
