Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder where a person has recurrent and unwanted ideas or impulses (called obsessions) and an urge or compulsion to do something to relieve the discomfort caused by the obsession. The obsessive thoughts range from the idea of losing control, to themes surrounding religion or keeping things or parts of one's body clean all the time. Compulsions are behaviors that help reduce the anxiety surrounding the obsessions. Most people (90%) who have OCD have both obsessions and compulsions. The thoughts and behaviors a person with OCD has are senseless, repetitive, distressing, and sometimes harmful, but they are also difficult to overcome.

I think this kid is a psycho. He asked a question about Federer and what he was going to wear at the AO. Like I've said before, wearing what they wear is not going to make you any better than you already are. So give UP! Plus, I think you'll only look like a ****** if you come fully dress like a pro and have no game.

I figure that someone should be able to tell him maybe not the TW staff but someone. In late Dec 04 I seen catalogs of the next couple of Nike lines. I can't recall the looks or color schemes, but do recall that there will be a novelty shirt with a picture of Johnny Mac on the chest I believe. The catalogs broke the line down to what each of there main players will be wearing. About 5-6 male players and 5-6 women. You do need to settle down some though, I get excited as well but not to this extent. As to wanting to look like a pro I see nothing wrong with it I am sure that is why company's sponser players. I live in Canada so our catalogs might difer from the one's in the US. Sometimes color scheme's are a bit different etc.

Seriously NikeTennis2005, I think TW is being very gracious with you because you might be a customer (I don't know what you've ordered obviously). But I feel really, really bad for these guys. They've already have given you the information they have, and yet it's not good enough for you. What is wrong with you? When are you going to get the message that you're not special, and it doesn't matter if you ask every 10 minutes, they can only give you so much.

So calm down, take your Ritalin, and f'in wait like the rest of us.

Nike Tennis2005,
I cannot reveal anything more about the future collections. They are, however, grouped seasonally, rather than by tournament.
Also, if you are in Australia, the groups released there might not be the same as those released here. It is not uncommon for there to be different groups for the US, Europe and Rest of the World markets.
Also, please understand we are unable to ship Nike goods internationally.

Nike Tennis2005,

All best designers of the world live in Italy, France, Germany, Europe shortly. Remind Mercedes, BMW, Ferrari, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and etc. Why are you so excited with Nike, they change 1-2 strokes and sell you almost the same every season, Nike has ugly design even if they have good quality of fabrics. Even if you like Nike go for other brands also, diversify your tennis wardrobe. Let you have Nike as well as Adidas, Diadora, Prince, and etc.

This definetly will improve your tennis game and make it richer !

Would he like the fact the sweatshop workers are not allowed to get up out of your chair for 12 straight hours, not even to go to the bathroom? And if a worker does get up, she might get beaten or worse, raped... Yeah I have some Nike gear so go ahead an call me a hypocrite. Fact is it's not just Nike.

Deuce - I've been to two Nike factories in China, and I did not see any "12 and 14 year old Asian children" at either. I was TOLD that the minimum age for working in those particular factories is 17, and the workers ranged in age from 17 to mid-50's, with the average age around 25. The people I saw working there confirmed that information.

There MAY be Nike factories that employ people as young as you say, but you don't know that. You're pulling stuff out of your a** as usual, to make your point. If the facts get in the way of your rant, it's much easier to ignore them, right?

But I'm stupid and immature-what do I know, I've just been there and seen it with my own eyes...that's still not up to par with your "instinctual" knowledge.

/Not a Nike booster by any stretch, but even less of a booster for know-it-alls who know nothing.

Craig Sheppard
02-23-2005, 09:02 PM
Phil, not disputing what you saw in China. But Nike also reportedly is using or had used factories in Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Cambodia, etc... Would guess the real dirty work is done in subcontracted factories w/ no Nike brass in sight. Perhaps the conditions are better in China, but they could be and probably are much worse in other countries.

So, Phil - you've been to two Nike factories. Uh... so? You were told - by Nike, I assume - that the minimum working age was 17. I assume you verified every worker's actual age while you were there. You were shown - by Nike, I assume - the workers, and the conditions under which they work. Were you also told - by Nike, I assume - what pay these workers were receiving? If your point is that, in visiting two Nike factories, you therefore know all there is to know regarding Nike's hiring practices and working conditions, then you're better off saying nothing, as this simply exposes your misled ignorance. If this is your point, it is not unlike me saying that because there were no murders last year on the street where I live, or on the next street over from me, there must not have been any murders in the entire city. If that is not your point, then your post seems to have no point at all - it's just another typical Phil insult-laden whining rant to attract attention.

One day you may realize that you don't know nearly as much as you want others to think you know.

No, Deuce, I did not say that I know the totality of Nike's manufacturing process and labor practices. I do not. My POINT is that I have a little first hand experience, and my experience seems to contradict what you sprout here day after day. I don't think conditions at ANY mass manufacturing plant are all that good, and sometimes they are horrible. But quite often, they are not NEARLY as bad as the media makes them out to be. The media has a vested interest in painting these things in the grimmest terms imaginable. Just like Nike, your local news outlet is a business. You, Deuce, have no sources on this other than the media and you will choose to believe what you read in it that conforms to your preconceived bias on the issues.

YOU are better off saying nothing if this is all you "know". For your informtion, I went on the factory tour with two of my company's licensees, who are not affiliated with Nike. Those factories also do contract work for other shoe companies-in different parts of the factory, but I was able to see the ENTIRE factories (and dormatories, and cafeterias and R&D facilities). So those people provided me with the information on factory ages, along with some research I did through neutral corporate investment sources-NOT Nike. I also work with a few very well-conected people in the area who are good sources of information and definitely not Nike shills. Additionally, I have my own eyes, which still work. I'm not trying to pull a "Susan" on you regarding knowledge and connections, but you brought up the fact of my "ignorance", so I have to tell you that you really don't know sqaut about this-I do. That's just the reality of the matter.

If you didn't post such bullshiat, then I wouldn't occasionally call you on it, so your attention grabbing theory goes down the tubes there. You don't like it when someone calls you on something, as you want to feel secure in this little cyber soap box of yours. You also get defensive and irritable when someone is able to speak from realworld experience when all you have are preconceived prejudices. That's your problem, not mine.

Again, Phil - your 'experience' as far as this issue is concerned - visiting two factories out of perhaps hundreds - really amounts to nothing of relevant substance, despite the fact that you want to feel important and privileged.

Indeed, the media distorts facts - because they have their own agenda. Anyone who has read more than two of your posts on these boards fully realizes that you, too, quite clearly have your very own agenda.

If the sources from which I've gathered information about Nike over the years lacked as much integrity and credibility as does the mainstream media, I would have obviously paid no heed. I believe I've established myself as an individual who possesses elements of both honesty and integrity, and I certainly am not fooled by the mass media as you portray me to be. Not any more than I'm fooled by the racquet companies. In any case, I need not defend my perspectives, or their foundations, to you, of all people.

As far as liking it when someone "calls me on something" - in the great majority of circumstances, I very much do like this, as it usually offers an opportunity for open, honest, mutually respectful, rational, intelligent discussion and/or debate. In the case of YOU "calling me on something", however, it is less enjoyable, for the simple reason that your agenda usually has little or nothing to do with the subject under discussion. Your focus is me - due to your unhealthy obsession with me. You have again and again proven yourself incapable of honest, rational, civil, intelligent discussion. Your other deficiencies result, for the most part, in posts which are short on substance, and long on vulgarity and insults. This is perhaps entertaining and enjoyable for you (as well as for a handful of adolescents who might read it), but I must confess to not getting much of a thrill out of you myself.

It is entirely pointless to enter into disagreement with you - for reasons which I've pointed out several times. And so, I will make a conscious effort to not do so in the future. I do not wish to be a participant in allowing you to take threads down the toilet as you have a strong and undeniable tendency to do. And so, having made my initial point in this thread, I will post no more in it. You, no doubt, will claim this as a ‘victory’ for yourself; claim that I have ‘run away’ from you, as you often claim others do, because of your incessant need to feel superior. Yes, Phil, I am ‘running away’ from you – just as many others have done and continue to do. But we don’t ‘run away’ because we feel ‘beaten’ – for there is rarely, if ever, any actual debate entered into (you deliberately create conditions under which debate on the issue at hand is not possible) - we leave simply because you are boorishly intolerable and profoundly unpleasant to share space with.

Hmmm...so in other words, basically tell me WHAT you're going to do, and what I will say you have done, and then DO IT in order to pre-empt my comment that you did it (run away without addressing the issue). That doesn't stop me from saying it, if that's what you did. Fine with me if you refuse to address an issue that you raised, when your knowledge of it is questioned-that's ONE way to escape responsibility for your actions, and something that you have done for many years here-while using insults to cover your tracks.

I find neither "honesty" or "integrity" in this approach, and, on the contrary, your creditials for such, have yet to be established. Not by a longshot. But if you want to convince yourself that you do have such qualities-go right ahead. You've been dishonest to yourself for years-no reason to stop now. Bye bye.
