The "RS" on Stepanek's strings stands for his initials. Here is the link on Stepanek's racquet.

C10 pro mold with V-Engine, i think.

C10 Pro Tour mould & drilling - a different layup, but close to the original C10 P/T. After that, a lot of (very) special customization.

He paints his racquets to look like the racquet his coach use to use.

Just to be clear it is C10 Pro Tour mold and drilling with the "V-Engine" bridge right?

I think the paint is in homage to Petr Korda's Voelkl from the early 90's.

From what I've been told, the Czech word for nothing starts with a "Z". Korda received nothing for playing with the frame.

Ever heard of a custom layup/frame?

C10 pro with a V- bridge instead of the regular bridge.
What is unclear to you?

I always just though that RS had the peeps take a C10 mold and make another mold as a C10 but added the V-Engine into that mold. Would that make his mold a C10 with a V-engine or a V-engine with a C10 frame.

I would say his frame plays closer to a C10 than any of the VE molds

I am going to be a party pooper and say that someone should just ask him to give his racquet to them - maybe a bat he is about to retire at the US open!

By the way, I wonder if all this really matters to someone who plays with the T10 VE MP bat sold to the public especially when they play well with it like me ;)

Great bat by the way --> Have fun bludgeoning your opponent with it :)

I don't know, they could be the same if they're two-piece.

Would not the grommets in the bridge be different as that shape is different/ Don't want to get in the middle of your ******* contest but if it it's a V engine it's not a C10 even if that upper part of the layup is the same.

Again it's not a C10pro, it's a C10pro mold with a V-engine.

It doesnt sound hard hard to me. They make a whole new mold exactly the same as a C10 pro, excpet when they crete this new mold the add a VE throat to it.

So I guess technically you could call it a VE mold. But the entire rest of the frame is a C10 pro. of course the grommets at the bridge will be different, but the rest of the grommets are C10 pro. Which should lead one to believe that the Frame is more C10 pro than VE whatever.

Too bad he wasnt al Legg Mason or I would have got tons of close up pics of this frame.

it's not a c10 mould..it's not a c10...racquets come out of the mould in their final shape. his frame has a v-engine bridge...therefore it comes from a v-engine mould, not a c10 mould. the keyhole may be similar to a c10 or not, the grommets are obviously different, the bridge is different, the layup may be different, and the v-bridge makes the racquet perform and feel diff than a c-10...other than this, it may be a little similar to a c10

To reduce this to an elemental level....

They took the C10 mould
They replaced the throat with a V
They poured in graphite of a special layup
Stepanek smiledIt's as easy as drawing an oval on a piece of paper. Then you take an eraser and erase the bottom part of the oval. You draw a "V" in it's place.

On a strictly literal level, NBMJ is correct. You can't very well have an oval mould produce a V-Engine. But, if you only change the throat, is it a C10 or a V-Engine? Methinks it's closer to a C10.

I was lucky enough to speak with Stepanek in Memphis last year. He had just finished practicing on the practice indoor court next to the 2nd indoor court, the one where they play most of the doubles. Stepanek was more involved with giving Mark Knowles, who followed him on the practice court with Bupathe, a hard time. The conversation went like this:

Me "Can I see your racket"
RS "Sure"
Me "This sure is like a C10" (Maybe not my exact words, but gist)
RS "There's a reason for that" (His EXACT words)

Just as an FYI, the frame has a glossy finish just like the C10, the paint job is first class. On the inside of the throat, there is a sticker that says Marshall Industries. Marshall Industries, not Volkl, owns the mould of the frame and the C10. This explains how Stepanek can get them without any Volkl-isms.

I may have a line on one of his old frames. If I get it, I'll put it up against a C10 and report back to the group.

They took the C10 mould** They took a V-engine mould. likely an old obsolete Volkl V-engine mould

They replaced the throat with a V** as above

They poured in graphite of a special layup** graphite isnt poured to make racquets.

Stepanek smiled
** ack
.

as above....

and once again literally taking everything?

Stepanek himself has said that the racket is at its most elemental level a C10. Horse's mouth not good enough?

this is a literal metaphor. way to make things personal again. what you state is impossible. i'm merely trying to provide the forum w. good info...graphite is not poured to make racquets...his racquet comes from a v shaped mould (this is not disputable), and etc. way to make it all personal again....all racquets at their most elemental level are c10's...and k90's, Snauweart Ergonoms, and Big Bubbas
