I won a Wavex tonight on the auction site mainly out of curiosity. It was listed as a 3003 but it's the 95" version so I believe it is actually a 3004 according to the Wavex page. Has anyone here hit with the 95" frame. Here is a pic for reference.

I played with a Wavex 3001 a few years ago. 95" head, standard length, wide-ish beam (> 22 mm), nice metallic burgundy pj. Probably more powerful than the one you bought, but still very control-oriented. Very comfortable, possibly due to the waves in the throat. A solid hit.

It's like a Babolat crossed with a POG. :-P

It looks interesting. When you get it can you post pics of the "waves" in the beam please? I tried to google some but the website didn't seem to show any of that detail

I will definitely take more pics when it arrives. I will post some balance and weight info as well as comments on the frame after I string it.

That's the 110" version (3003). 14 mains in that thing. Stiffness of 72RA.

I conversed with the seller a bit and it turns out the frame says 3003 on it BUT it is in fact the 95" frame. Not sure if it was a misprint or not by Wavex. He had some of the 110" frames as well and they said 3004 on them.

The wavex info I believe is wrong on their website. He said the frames with the smaller heads actually had the 14X18 string pattern. The larger ones have the 16X19.

So that one is actually a 95" clone of the 93" POG?

It would seem so. I am expecting the headsize to be identical to the POG MP at this point.

Yes, I think that's right -- it looks like the web site has the photos of the 95"/14X18 and 110"/16X19 switched around.

I'll be interested to read your impressions after you've had a chance to hit with this racquet. I never conducted any (scientific) tests to verify the company's claims about wavex technology, but purely empirically, I concluded that the waves in the throat did seem to contribute to the racquet's solid feel, stability and comfort. The 3001 is the most comfortable all-graphite stick I've ever hit with. (I never tried the 3003 or 3004.)

A friend of mine had one of these guys a long time ago. IIRC they also had a PS 6.0 knockoff that was a very solid hitter.

As far as this model with the cross bar, I remember having a go with it. It was strung with Kevlar at mid-high tension, and it actually played very nicely. I don't recall the string pattern, but the feel was very "meaty," with a nice, medium-raw feel. I recall having easy access to spin, and the directional control was very good. IMO, it was a nice, no-frills frame that gave a nice, solid response. No gimmicks.

How was the finish on the one your buddy had. Some of the closeup pics the seller had showed a nice glossy paintjob. It looks as if these came with a leather grip stock.

I saw all of those listed on fleabay. What interested me most was the 14x18 string pattern on the 95's.

I can't really recall. I do want to say it was glossy, though. What specifically are you trying to figure out? I could call him up, if his number is still valid :o
