View Full Version : The Fischer Racquet Thread!

Well, I don't really see many people here on TW talking about Fischer Racquets so this thread will be dedicated to those who would like to know about Fischer Racquets. I myself own one and it's in my signature. I love how the grip handle is shaped and it's easy to manuever!

Post pictures of your Fischer Racquets and let's discuss about it!

There is a Fischer Faction thread actually. I agree though, I love Fischer frames and the current M Pro 1 is my main stick and I couldnt be happier with how it fits for my game.

My "holy grails"...I have had around 15 of them...some got strung about 80 times so are dead...others the handle's went dodgy and I smashed a few.

Have 6 right now...all brand new...stocked up last year. I also really like the M Speed model.

Ive been using the M pro 98 SL for a while, they became so cheap after the tolerance came out, which was just a PJ with a guarantee spec anyways.

However i might be making a switch, technifibre is supposed to be coming out with a new racquet middle of the month for Bagdhatis who recently switched to them. Its supposed to be very close in spec with the M Pro, but a bit lighter. Ive always liked technifibre frames, im deffinately demo-ing once it releases.

The mould is the same for the TF stick, but the racket will most likely play nothing like the fischer (there are more important things than the mould to consider).
Also ... Baghdatis didn't switch sh1t, he's playing with a paintjob of his old fischer (that's probably the no 1 reason for TF to use the Pro no 1 mould for it's racket...so that Baggy can use his old racket with no problems).
With regards to the "fischer thread" I had various Classic models (still own a Vacuum Pro Classic 90), and Pro no 1 models (still own 3 MSpeed Pro #1's) and they all played great.

How does it compare to the Pro No.1?

More flex, better comfort and a larger sweet spot. Seems to have more pop...ive only used it for 30 mins with factory strings. Just re-strung with my regular poly and added leather.

m speed is the older model before the m pro no tolerance. they are the same racquet other than paint job and grip shape (newer one is more rectangular and has a normal butt cap, older one was squared and had a rounder cap). the glossy paint on the no tolerance is really stunning in person. I loved the look and feel of the 98 SL, but I just didn't play very well with it, so now have two of them to unload :).

Yup, couldn't agree more. Just goes to show that the "made in China" part isn't an excuse, and SHOULDN'T be used as an excuse for Wilson's (or other manufacturers) quality (and quality control) screwup.

Keep in mind that the older Pro no 1 has been his main stick for quite a while...hence he is more used to it. Also ... if somebody prefers a racket for it's "feel" doesn't guarantee that you will like the same "feel" that he likes. That's why there are so many options available :).

Od1n and Nickb,

Can you compare the Pro No 1 with M Pro No 1 please? I can get a brand new Pro No 1 for 80 and M Pro No 1 for 130.

Has the racket a big sweetspot? Enough power on serves?

The M Pro feels very flexy compared to the red/black...seems to cup the ball more. Sweetspots about the same size. After using the M pro more it has less power for me...and is lacking in punch (because of the flex?). The red/black has more pop and a crisper feel. Both do everything really well. I just cant get used to the feel of the m pro or the new grip shape. Both have a lot of power for players sticks...I dont find them low powered at all (you do have to have a long swing to use them). If you can try them both...they are VERY different sticks even with similar specs.

I like them both. Like Nick said, most of the difference is the "feel". The magnetic one has a much flexier feel and IMO a slightly bigger sweet area.
The older Pro no 1 has a slightly stiffer (crisper) feel, and slightly more power (probably due to stiffness).
Both are great all court rackets and for the money (if you can't demo to convince yourself otherwise) I would go with the 80 euro one ;).

I think there is a bit of confusion as to what people are comparing here - the M Pro No1 2005 to 2008 model or the M Pro No 1 (either) to the old Pro No 1.

Describing the racket as the red/black one isn't really helpful since both the 2005 M Pro No 1 and the old Pro No1 are red/black.

I have had several (forgot to count) 2005 models of the M Pro No 1 an drecently switched to the 2008 model. I don't like teh garish paint as much but prefer the handle soooo much more. So even though I have to pay a premium of some Eur 60 I am going to get a few more 08 models.

I know they are essentially the same frame but somehow the 08 mode feels better to me. Could just be the fresher string job though. I doubt my frames are 'tired' yet...

My reels of PHT and CF have run out. I only have Babolat Tour Duralast 16 enough for 2 stringjobs (my bro's string). I have one set of BBO and one set of PHT 16. I can play with duralast when it's fresh :) If I like the frame I will string it with BBO. The frame looks very old school. I will play right now until Duralast breaks (3 hours). Do you know the difference between my demo's frame and yours frame? I think mine is 2004 and yours 2005 model.

I came from playing tennis with Fischer. Great stick. I will play tomorrow with syn gut string (Babolat Tour Extra Speed 16) @ 26kg. I need to adjust my serve but GS are really good from both wings. Mainly the FH is amazing. I didn't feel the racket very flex (which is good). What's the RA flex of the racket? The grip shape is great. It seems to be better than babolat, head or wilson. The grip size is very small for a 4 3/8 (L3). It plays like a L2. Is it usual in fischer sticks ?

i've never played with fischer but have heard some great things about their frames. i'm interested in demoing some of their stuff - but i wanted to stop by here first and get some advice on which ones to demo. i'm not familiar with their product lines - can anyone advise? i'm a 3.5-4.0 player, one handed backhand, prefer to stay at the baseline though am becoming more comfortable at net. i tend to like lighter frames but not too light, i still like some substance, but i'm not a fan of 11.7+ oz frames. i generate some good power on my own but like rackets that offer forgiveness as well - and something that is arm friendly as ive had issues in the past.

based on looking at the tennis warehouse site, it seems like good ideas for me would be m pro no 1 98 light, the magnetic tour light, the m ralley red...any other suggestions? anyone use these frames that can provide some more insight?

and, what makes fischer frames different/better than the rest? quality control/arm friendliness/feeling/etc.?!

Fischer racquets are great if you can get comfortable with their weird shaped grip. Honestly, I've been playing with the M Pro No.1 98 UL (11oz version) and I LOVE it. I currently have some Forten Nylon Blacks on it as a cross and some type of Kevlar as a main. Both strung at 60 I believe so? Even though it's strung at 60, I feel as if my racquet is strung lower since Kevlar is a dead string.

I used to play with the Nsixone 95 and didn't like it so much. Reasons were that it was too heavy and I was weak. Switching off to the Fischer racquet felt so much lighter and more manueverable for myself since I'm not a big fan of heavy racquets. I hit with heavy racquets once in awhile to get used to the weight again and come back to my Fischer.

Hope you can choose a Fischer racquet that fits your needs! :)

I just got my first Fisher- M Pro no.1 SL 105. I got HEAD ETS 16 string on it because it was free. I don't really like it. It makes the racket feel like a power racket with hot spots.

What string would you recommend?

I string at 51 pounds. I happen to have a pack of Gamma Livewire XP 17 and Prince Lightening 16. How do they perform in this racket?

Is it possible that I have not given these strings long enough to "settle down" or "break in " or something like that? I have played about 2 hours on them.

I don't really know much about strings but I've strung my Fischer 98 UL with some Kevlar and Forton Black Nylons. Strings haven't snapped yet so I guess it's fine. I just got a blister on my index finger by not holding the grip correctly on my PS85 and I can't play for a few weeks now.

Wow, the design/mold of this stick is strikingly similar to that of the new Technifibres.

I knew there might be some mold trading between the two companies, but it looks like TF bought their new molds from Fischer as they did with their previous frames which they bought from Dunlop.

What racket is this exactly?

I'm not sure TF actually had to buy anything...as far as I know the Pro no 1 mold which was used for TF's T-Flash 315 model is a so called "open mold".
The one in the picture looks indeed similar.
