I've noticed a trend at these super national and national events.

If you look at Kalamazoo 2008 for example, 6 of the 8 5th round consolation matches (18s) were walkovers.

Do they do this because they have won more points in the main draw than they have won in consolation?

I remember reading somewhere that you can only earn points in the main draw or back draw alone. So, does that mean that bonus points you earn in the main draw do not count if you play consolation?

If all of this is true, the USTA needs to fix it up so kids have the urge to play consolation.

the points per round chart has been offline from the USTA website for quite some time.

n

no, you earn point both main draw and back draw.. some do not play the later rounds back draw because the DO,really do get injured.. and some do not play the back draw because they may have a flight to catch to get back home... a lot of people cannot afford to leave an open ticket date so they book in advance to save $$$ this having to come back early... with that and all the hotels and other expense it is sometimes not worth going on in the back draw if you already earn some points....the more experienced ones buy only one way flight and buy another 1 way back when they lose everything, but it's still quite expensive...

Another thing to remember is that while many of the players do online schooling or home-schooling some of the players are still in traditional school.

School is basically just starting in many areas and with this tourney a player could miss a week and a half. If you're still in the main draw, you probably say it's worth it to stay. Backdraw - not so much.

I think thats stupid, sometimes you should go for your record a player might have 2000 points but have like a 20-50 record due to just blowing off consis, personally, i play them for my record

Yeah, and winning matches helps your tennisrecruiting rank. But people that last in the kalamazoo main draw aren't really concerned about tennis recruiting, they are pretty much picking wherever they wan to go.

As do I...I figure if you sign up for a tournament, you made a commitment to honor their schedule. It's for that reason my kid doesn't play as many tourneys as others in our section: too many are across town and/or in a different city and they start on Friday early afternoon. We put school before tennis, therefore he doesn't play as many as some.
