If you are a junior player but play in a Men's Open, will those results be included in your tennisrecruiting.net ranking?

...it should, especially when local Men's Opens for $$ usually have higher ranked 16 & 18's, and college players!!

Actually, I think it might be listed IF you play another player that is already on TR.net as well, I'm not sure though.

TennisRecruiting.net does not use results from open tournaments in its rankings - nor does it use results from ITA summer series tournaments.
Why not? The issue is that TennisRecruiting.net uses a head-to-head ranking system. Let me give some background and then address the question...
We believe that head-to-head systems produce the best rankings when players do not all compete in the same tournaments (as is the case with American junior tennis). Points-based systems work great for professionals (e.g., Federer and Nadal play similar schedules) and for more localized rankings (e.g., travel around a state during the summer is not too onerous), but points-based systems have problems when comparing players who play different schedules. The TennisRecruiting.net rankings use a head-to-head system for this reason.
However, head-to-head systems have their own issues. In particular, they require a great deal of cross-play between the ranked players to ensure good rankings. This cross-play issue is the reason why we require a minimum number of tournaments - and wins - for a player to be eligible in the rankings.
Open tournaments that have very few juniors have in effect a bunch of unknown quantities. If a player competes in an open tournament and beats two 35-year-olds that are (obviously) not in our ranking system, the ranking system has no way to effectively factor in those results.
If we wanted to use Open tournaments, we would essentially have to include all tournaments for all adults - or at least a large number of them. That path is way too expensive - in terms of time and complexity - for us to consider.
So we end up using USTA and ITF tournaments - that way we get the cross-play we need to come up with good rankings. And most players who care about our rankings play enough junior tournaments to get an accurate ranking.
I hope that makes sense. Feel free to follow up with additional questions - either here in the forum or through email: dallas [at] tennisrecruiting [dot] net.

One other thing I should point out...
It is our policy to only include full tournaments in our rankings. Using selective matches from tournaments is problematic for us and leads to a lot of confusion with duplicate entries, incomplete results, etc.

TRN should have doubles results from junoir tournaments
Here is the text from a post I made on another thread...
That is another good question. Doubles is especially important in college tennis where the doubles point is often the make-or-break point in spring duals. Having a doubles component in our rankings - or at least an additional ranking that also uses doubles - seems like a winner idea. We have long considered adding a doubles component, and we still have discussions about it today.
Unfortunately, our ranking system uses a head-to-head ranking system - and it is not straightforward to count doubles in head-to-head rankings. Adding doubles is actually much easier in points-based systems - and so systems like the ITF have singles, doubles, and combined rankings.
So counting doubles is not something we do today, but it has long been something on our list for future consideration.

...or how about a separate doubles ranking system...since the USTA has basically axed all doubles rankings on a national level...
