I just played in the biggest tournament of my life, and was sent packing after the first day of competition... I lost both the round of 16 match and the consolation match 6-0, 6-0. It wouldn't be so bad if I had played my hardest, but I feel like I could have beaten both of the guys that i played... Anyways, worst tournament yet...

how could you possibly feel you could beaten them both, if you lost love and love to both of them?

Well, in the first match, I was having serious problems serving and returning the guy's monster serve, but when I got the ball into play, I won majority of the groundstroke points. And as for the second match, it was the exact opposite. My serves were actually decent, but he could return them well and had much better groundstrokes than I did. Also, he was using all spoon serves with a lot of side spin, which totally threw me off.

how did u win the majority of groundstroke points if u lost 0 and 0.

i.e. your opponents were better than you and you need more practise instead of saying you can beat them when you just lost 0 and 0 to both of them.

Also, another comment. It's easy to say that you can beat someone, but it's much harder actually beating them.

Learn from your losses and move on.

Tennis is a game of adjustments. When you go into matches against better players, be sure to have a Plan B, and if your game allows for it, have a Plan C.

Man I've been 6-0 4-1 down and taking a real beating but I won the match. Now imagine if I'l lost 6-0 601 but said I could of beaten the guy. everyone would laugh but I did beat him so that proves that 6-0 6-0 can actually be quite close.

The groundstroke points that I won were the serves that I could get in and the ones that I could return, but unfortunately I was only able to retunr a couple of his serves a game.

I also made a mistake not going into this tournament with a plan. Usually I'll try to have a strategy set, but not knowing any of the players, I decided to wing it.

This tournament only had about 80 entrants, 16 in my division, but is one of the biggest tournaments of the year in my city.

i've felt the same way before, and i've realized that i just crumble playing against these people! I overswing on every shot and it ends up having no accuracy whatsoever... i just get so ticked off with my opponents but i stay silent... really i'm like john mcenroe when it comes to my opponents... I get angry at bad calls, but this really screws up my game

Yeah, I hate when the score doesn't reflect what you think it should or the amount of effort you put into the match.

Same here, I lost to someone who has beaten two top 60 players in back to back tourneys. But I had like 10 break points in the first set and couldn't convert one of them. I lost 6-4, 6-2.
