First tourney

So I might be participating in a USTA sponsored tourny in about 3 weeks. This will be my first tourny. I played high school tennis for 1 year and do not have a lot of experience. I have been playing for only like 1.5 years and ive only been taking lessons for 2 months...

Should I expect a beating? I am 16.

Probably, but it's all experience. If you're good enough then you have nothing to fear.

ye u will proably get beatin unless you no the ppl and are very confident because its the 16s but u could do well but if they have a very high national rank and r seeded chances are youll lose unless u did amzing in hs...but gl newayz itll be a good experience

yeah getting a beating is pretty likely , but i would keep playing tourneys
because once you get comfy playing them, you'll win

How long are typical matches? 3 sets or 5? Or is it different for each tournament?

I kind of worded my first question strangely. All I meant was if its a played in a 3 set or 5 set match,

Usually a 16s match will be 3 sets.

The only people who play 5 setters are the pros (and only in the slams and davis cup)

Also the two finalists at Kalamazoo. (juniors)
