I know a little bit about weight training but wouldn't be able to design an effective program specifically for tennis where by I can only use free weights once a week (this is all time allows). I was hoping that someone would have one that has been proven and could share it?

Thank you!:)

A lot of good info on this side

Just remember you're better off doing more reps with lower weights than low reps with high weights.

Try the following: USTA Player Development (http://www.playerdevelopment.usta.com/news/fullstory.sps?inewsid=249182)

my only suggestion is to do bench presses on a stability ball. Make sure you keep your hips up as well. This creates a situation where the rotator cuff is helping stabilizes, and we all know you need to work on the rotator cuff to prevent injury.

this is no good, it requires a workout pass. you have to pay for it.

Is there anything you can do with maybe a free weight dumb bell that is 5 lbs while sitting on your couch watching TV ?

look up a shoulder health workout. You can use the dumbbell to strengthen your rotator cuff and other shoulder stabilizers with a few exercises. just don't go play tennis right after finishing the workout.
