getting itchy everytime I hear one of those idiots saying 'why don't they let them keep the ball -- LIKE IN BASEBALL'? What a ****** bag comment... The sport is dying and all they can think about is 'let them keep the ball so that they make 2 bucks selling it on ****'

I think it would be a great idea to let the fans keep the ball so that they have a chance to get it signed by on of the players on the court. As far as baseball, it is not dying, it will always be around. Admittedly though the level of interest in the game has gone down but so has the interest in tennis.

I meant Tennis is dying...
Do you really believe in autographs? Those guys don't even look when they sign.

I don't like it, either. They should say "...AS in baseball", not "...LIKE in baseball." It's, like, poor grammer, like.

Great point Camilio! I think the justification for not letting the fan keep the ball refers to the number of balls and the changing every 9 games. If you lose a few it affects the remaining ones. I'm sure they could just add another 3 balls or so to the rotation to overcome that concern. Would be a great souvenier for a kid, and a great way to grow the game by getting the young fan interested.

Then you have 3 new balls, and 3 used balls - which is not good.
Look, it's not like a ball goes into the stands every 5 minutes. Just remember who caught the ball, and when it's time for a ball change, give them a ball. No big deal.

Deuce, I think he meant add 3 more balls to the rotation initially, instead of when the balls get lost. I always did well in reading comprehension. I think it's a great idea, baseliner, it would be nice for someone to get to keep the ball.
