ALU Rough, Silverstring, or Pro Line II. I've hit with the rough and it plays very well, but it hurts my arm. Silverstring and Pro Line sound like great control strings and I was wondering what you guys thought about them.

At first I thought you were sarcastic, then I realized that you didnt write anything after that.

*Edit* I've touched Alu Rough once in someone's racquet, but it was strung too tight for my liking;(60 lbs) but played nice. I actually had to run and jump into the ball to get it working

well i must admit i have seen some intensely unintellegent comments from roger nadal. for example: fed plays it, it must be good. syn gut strings are cheap, so they must suck, and other ridiculous generalizations of the sorts

Well I didn't start this thread for people to go and insult other people, even if their comments are stupid. So, thanks tennisfreak for actually making an effort to answer my question.

well, i will offer an opinion, sorry bout that 2nd

i prefer ALU, but i like a stiff stringbed, and since u stated that it hurt your arm, i went with the silverstring

Don't worry about it and thanks for your opinion.

So nobody likes pro line? I've heard some pretty good things about it. But then again, I've heard good things about rough and SS too.

Was SS as powerful or as controlled as ALU?

And what gauge did you use for pro line and SS?

i used either 16g or 16L for all of them, which is not normal at all for me, i want to try in smaller guages..

anyway, i found the ALU to have a bit more pop and a little more control, but i also strung a few lbs tighter so idk about that

It's hard for me to compare because I've switch frames over the years but I have had experience with ALU Power (no rough) and Pro Line II.
I like Pro Line II 1.15 in a full job in my current racquet and I really like my current setup which is Klip Legend gut mains and Pro Line II 1.25mm crosses.

Overall I like Pro Line II over ALU, ALU is nice but I think the Pro Line II has a cleaner feel, some people say it's a muted feel which is bad but I like how there aren't as much "dirty" vibrations after striking the ball. I could play Pro Line II 1.15 without a dampener and stand it but not so with ALU. (though I still prefer playing both with a dampener.)

How did pro line compare to ALU in power and control?
