I need power on my shots as I have recently gotten injured and thus cannot generate head speed as quickly as before.

Currently, I'm using NXT Tour 17 on my RDS 003 at 53 lbs.

I just want to know which one of the strings in the title has the most pop. I would guess xCel and X-1, but I would like to make sure before spending 35 bucks on stringing.

If there are more powerful multis out there, let me know.

Thanks a lot :)

Xcel Power, then NRG2, followed by X-1.

X-1 is less powerful than NRG2?

Wow. I did not know that. Xcel is new right? Anybody with experience with it?

get natural gut if you just want power

it'll maintain it's playability much longer anyway

So basically Gut > Xcel > X-1 in terms of power?

I've never tried gut, frankly, I'm afraid that if I do, I'll go bankrupt because I'll love it so much!

Next question, is the general consensus that VS Babolat Gut is best? Or....

It might be 20 bucks more but it probably lasts 30% longer since it doesn't sound like you're much of a string breaker.

Babolat VS is the first name in natural gut... they invented natural gut strings (literally).

Not at all a string breaker. Thanks for the replies :)

If power is your #1 priority, X-1 is the ticket.

haha now I'm lost. Everyone is telling me different things.

My main priority is power. power power power. What multi (or gut?) would give me that?

I'm aware the ratings will fluctuate, but I'm sure there's one string that everyone can agree on right?

Gut will give you the most power. Period. Try VS or VS Team. For multi, I think X-1 is the most powerful. Xcel Power is no slouch though.

I have used the xcel 16 guage as a cross and it was noticible LESS powerful than nrg 17 which is what I normally use.

Depends on which Xcel variant you are using... old Xcel (pure oatmeal); Xcel 2008 (aka Xcel Premium) - a great string for soft feel; Xcel Power my new "closest to gut if I keep my eyes closed" multi. Really, this truly the closest thing to the real deal. As James Brown would say: "Without No Doubt!".

So X-1 has more power than Xcel power? Cuz yeah, I've heard that the old Xcel is kinda lame, so I was wary of the new ones.

I hated the old Xcel, but am really liking both of the new versions. To me, X-1 has more power to it and takes more work to control that power. I think Xcel Power plays better. Almost the same power, but better feeling to me in terms of touch and control. And, this is coming from someone who likes X-1. The Xcel Premium/2008 is an exceptionally soft feeling string, but still has good playability IMO. The old version was just plain mushy. Best to try both X-1 and Xcel Power for yourself.
