View Full Version : Some questions about lead tape...

I'm very new to lead tape, but I was considering placing some on my Prince Tour Diablo MP for a little extra weight.

A few questions in mind:

-Where should I place it and why?

-What are the effects of placing it in different areas?

-Do most come with an adhesive side and you just stick it on the racket? If so, will I ever have to replace it? Is it a one time thing, then I never have to mess with it again? If I don't like it, will it be easy to take off?

-Will it get in the way when I'm stringing my racket?

Thanks in advance guys, any help is greatly appreciated.

my friend put some lead tape, no ALOT OF LEAD TAPE at 3+9 and some at the middle of 12. It was a GREAT place to put it. I loved the racket. And tried it on my radical. You should try it

If someone could answer the rest of my questions, I'm pretty curious.

Sorry for the double post, but...

How many grams do you generally use on each side of the frame (9 and 3 for example)?

Thanks guys.

I added 5.25 grams on each of 9 and 3.

Then I added 2.25 grams at 12.

Seem like a decent set-up?

Anyways, I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I hit with it.

Seems like the racket will be very head heavy with that set up. But you may it like it like that.

But, if you liked/like the balance of your current frame but just want to make it heavier. You will need to add some lead either under the grip or in the throat or 6 o cloack areas.

I actually have the same racquet and kind of wanted to do the same thing. I thought the Diablo MP was way to headlight. I put 6 grams of lead tape on each side in between 10/2 and 9/3 spots. This would make a total of 12 grams.

I know previously someone mentioned it would be very head heavy. I find that the balance point did not change that much from it's stock configuration. The change seems to only be maybe 4-5pts. So instead of 10pts HL it is now 5pts HL. It plays amazingly well. Hope that helps.
