View Full Version : String Resiliance?

Has anyone tried or know how much tension can most strings handle. Not so much that it breaks during short play time but when it breaks during stringing. I remember snapping some string on a drop weight when I let it down too fast and it bounced. That was at 65lbs

It was probably a fair amount more than 65lbs if you dropped it.
I'd say you could probably reach at least 70lbs with any string esp when thinking about OS racquets which have mid-points around 62-65lbs

Years ago a reel of Slazenger Competition Nylon 15L had the knot strength and tensile strength of the string listed on the label. The tensile strength for the string (1.40mm) was 170 pounds. Don't recall the knot strength. Since the tensile strength is proportional to the cross sectional area of the string you could probably deduce the approximate tensile strength of another nylon single outer wrap construction string.
