View Full Version : Making your Stencil Ink last?

10-03-2008, 11:29 AM
I got some of the Gamma stencil ink off the t-w website.. I just started putting on my own custom stencils, but it seems like they just don't last as long as they should.. I'll have a fresh string job, apply ink, and lets say I rally the next day, ink is gone (along sweet spot of course) and stencil is almost not visible.. Is it the string not taking the ink? or did i get a bad bottle of ink :/

first of all, SpinFire is a poly, correct? Poly's dont hold ink very well

Wilson makes ink for polys.

Wilson makes ink for polys however I still think their ink isn't any good. All it takes is one hit for the stencil ink to start coming off the poly onto the tennis ball.

You will just have to re-do it all the time...dont be so tight :)

why even bother with a stencil anyway?

yes, ink on the poly goes much quicker.

ohh i don't know, if you're me, and have a wilson sponsorship... my contract states i need wilson and luxilon logos on my strings for all tournament play

I think that letting the ink dry for a couple of days before hitting with the racquet lets the stencil ink last longer because it soaks in to the string.
