I got yesterday my Wilson K Factor Six One 95 (18x20) racket. Inside the racket nylon bag was a small W letter made by rubber. I thought that it must be a shock dampener. I did not know where to place it but taking close looks at it and the racket I decided to put it on the racket. I would like you to tell me if I put it on the right spot and if it is really a dampener.

Thank you.

yes it is a dampener and the location you put it is personal preference.

Well by the design of the dampener I concluded that it could go only down where there is some space between the horizontal strings. It almost impossible to put it higher because the strings were so close together, it could not pass through the strings.
I have not used the racket yet. You advise me to test the racket without the dampener and put it afterwards to see if it makes any difference?

Since when did six one 95's came strung?

Anyways,
The W logo doesnt look like an E when it goes on. Just turn it 45 degrees counter clock wise and you have it right.
A damp can only be placed UNDER the first CROSS. Many people get this wrong.

You mean 90 degrees?

The usual way is to put it so that the top of the W with the three points is parallel to the crosses

Yes it came strung and wherever I saw this racket in Europe it was on sale only with strings. Is this something I should be suspicious about?

Yeah the racquet doesnt come strung... However this is in the U.S/Canada so I'm not so sure about europe.

It looked more logical in terms of appearance if the W was 90 anti clockwise but how can I squeeze it between the 2 vertical strings? I mean the space between the 2 vertical strings is 9mm and the W is 1.8mm...

Just turn it, Don't worry about the string looking too spaced out.

It may take a bit of force

I guess you can put it that way. I'd suggest the W pointing upwards toward 12 o'clock though.

I had to press the strings a bit apart so that the W can fit between them. But take a look where my red arrows point. The strings there seem to have more space. Is this the way it should be?

Yeah thats what i meant about dont worry about the spacing,
it's perfectly fine, I personally don't like it so I use a rubber band, But a rubber band also has that effect but its just bent inwards instead of outwards like yours.

Yeah, all you needed to do was force the dampener in a bit.

I squeezed the dampener and did not press the strings so much because I did not want to cause any damage to the string. The dampener although made from rubber still it was quite stiff.

I got the racket from a UK based store, the name of the store is tennis n u t s. I don't think there should be any authentication issue regarding the racket.

By the way I will use an electronic weighing device to measure the weight of the racket to see if it's according to its standards.

Wait is it a fake...? I'm not sure, I'm editing this a lot.

By the way, don't worry about damaging the strings, the dampener won't do any damage.

Oh no... you have a fake KSix-One 95...

My Prince racket is also from China. Does that mean that it is fake too? Is everything made in China fake?

No no. A lot of things are made in China. Give me a minute... the KSix-One Tour 90 has the "Made in China" on the throat, not under 6 o'clock. But this is the KSix-One 95, so I'm trying to find out where the "Made in China" label is located.

Ok. I visited the wilson.com website but I can't find any photo of that specific part where the Made in China is written. If you find any photo, send me a link, please.

Ah, I can't find a picture, but I found this website. Link. (http://www.regentville.com/2007/08/wilson-k-six-one-95-differences.html) Check for some of the decals you see in that website. I'm very sorry if I'm making you worried about your newly purchased racquet!

I have already visited the regentville page. Well the sooner I find out the better because if it turns to be fake I will return it within the period of time I have the right to return the product. It was an online purchase. I will contact Wilson as well. I hope I get a quick response and of course I am going to weigh it.

Tennis n u t s is probably one of the biggest dealers in england, it will be real.

Tennis n u t s looked a pretty decent store to me but someone from this forum implied that it may be fake. And then I went to check the barcode. The barcode on the body of my Prince racket is like any regular barcode, has identical first and last bars. On the Wilson did not seem like that and that made me more suspicious. The important thing is that balance wise the racket seem to be according to specs. I took the test with the finger trying to balance it and it seemed ok. I will weigh it as well and if it's ok then nothing to worry about.

No doubt tennis n u t s is a large store with reputation and it is one of the wilson distributors according to the uk wilson site.

I know the racquet is genuine but comparing it with a Prince Ozone the Prince looks like never been used before while the Wilson looks a bit second class in terms of appearance only. Too many marks, spots etc.

Well you may drop/scrape racquets more it depends on the user.
I mean as long as it looks clean when you buy it, it should be fine.

My Wilson K Six-One 95 racquet is 100% genuine. The importer and official distributor of Wilson racquets in my country checked it and said that it is genuine Wilson product. Nothing to worry about. Thank you all for your answers.

I want my couple days of worry back... but one thing I learned from life is that time never goes back. Money, friends, wives etc can come back, time never...
I hope I don't get to philosophical for a tennis forum...
