i have had some very bad experiences at golf-smith.

all of them they replaced for free, but it was just such a hassle...

mis-weaves and the sort.

people at mega-chain sports stores should really put more effort into making sure stringers actually do a good job of stringing. some will tripple pull, double pull, mis-weave, leave the racquet on the stringer, or string bottom to top. really poor performance.

I don't see anything wrong stringing top to bottom or side to side. BUT manufactures do and they are the ones that put the guarantee on the frames so it is always best to string to their recommendations. Some allow bottom to top (like Wilson,) and some don't. All allow top to bottom. Therefore I string top to bottom on all rackets. One less thing to worry about.

For instance if look up the string pattern for the Wilson six-one. They recommend one piece stringing. But two piece is allowed.
