is his current racquet a paintjob of the Ultimum rd ti-70 long?

He may have used it, but I think people are saying he uses a Ti80. This is similar to the Ti70, with a 16x19 string pattern.

The stock Ti80 is a too headlight in my opinion, and I'm sure Paradorn has his customized with more mass in the head. I added 11" of lead in the hoop to my Ti80, and it plays very well.

All the copper-colored RD Ti-80 users on tour have switched to the red-colored RD Ti-80. Paradorn Shrichaphan, Mario Ancic, Mary Pierce, Maggie Maleeva, Shinobu Asagoe are sporting the new ferrari red paintjob. It's the same exact frame with the same specs, but just re-issued with a new paintjob, kind of like the '03 Kournikova-red MP-2i and the '04 Jelena Jankovic-yellow MP-2i or the '01 Babolat PD's and the '03 PD's.

Yes, it is customized to his string pattern preference.

Now that I look at the pictures, the frame does look very similar to the Ti80, especially the lettering in the throat area, and the black at the Y. I prefer the new paintjob however, although the copper original is pretty and tasteful.

What Yonex needs to do is shrink the headsize to 95sq.in. and add about 6grams to the head and it would be awesome. The slightly harsh feel is really due to lack of mass in the head.

good idea.wont that make it less head light?

Yes, spksz, but that's the problem, the Ti80 is too headlight. Serve and volleyers might like it as it is, but for a combination of baseline and net play, the head needs more mass. Maybe this is just a personal preference, but I think others will agree the Ti80 needs lead tape.

One the plus side, the balance and design makes it *very* maneuverable, and you can generate extremely fast head speed on serve/groundstrokes, which may provide the extra power from lack of mass.

hmmm thats true.but the rdx 500 is 8 pts head light.same as the ti-80.no problem with it? and wont the ti-50 and ti-70 be worse.they're like ten-over points head light

The RDX500 is head light, but due to the design (hexagon), the head feels more solid and hefty than a box beam (ti80,70,50), and the design also provides more power. So this is an exception.

And yes, I needed to add a fair amount of lead tape to my Ti70long and Ti50 (!). The RDXmid and MP Tour 1 have enough mass in the head no lead tape is required.

speaking of mp-tour 1.how do u rate it against the rest of the other 4 racquets?

The Mp tour 1 is as good as the RDX500mid/Ti70long, very solid and powerful. It is the heaviest of my Yonexes, so this is the only thing you might be a bit cautious about. And it didn't need *any* lead tape (!) Try demo it.

interesting.its heavier than both ti-50 and 70?

Yes, the MP Tour 1 is heavier than the Ti50 and 70 off the shelf, and the swingweight is noticeably higher. Even with all the lead tape on the 50 and 70, I think the MP Tour is slightly heavier. You should probably get a 4 3/8" lighter version of the MP Tour 1 (!) I got a 4 5/8".

Don't care neither about Paradorn himself, no about his racquet.
