I just wanted to know how I could keep in shape for tennis in the winter. I don't play in the winter. I just don't want to totally lose my form after the winter. I may play 2 times indoors winter but that's all. Any suggestions?

Well, I'm sorry to se you aren't getting any answers- I suppose because many of us cannot relate to playing in an area where it gets too cold and dark, and snowy, and gloomy, and expensive.

The best thing is just to stay in shape- run, sprint, jog. Set up a series of workouts, light weights, aerobics, yoga.

Join a gym or community recreation facility if you can, where you can work out indoors. They might have basketball, racketball, badminton, volleyball- so you can stay competitive and do some that involves hand/eye co-ordination.

If there is hockey, that is a very good companion sport for tennis.

On the days you do make it to the indoor courts, try to practice, as much aspossible, to get in all the strokes/shots. Don't, for example, just play a game where you slug it out from the baseline.

Take someof the off time to pick up some books and study the history of the game, study strategy and learn some drills that might be useful for indoor court days. Some books, also, have excercises and training tips especially for tennis players.

Practice your strokes and footwork in front of a mirror or picture window.

Watch tennis videos and try to pick up tips as to form, positioning and ball placement.

Find a wall somewhere that you can practice on warmer days.

Take up one of the martial arts, gymnastics or dance.
