My old man is switching to RQiS 1 for more comfort on the arm but doesn't want to lose the power of RDS 001 Midplus. Suggestions?

Just use gut or multifilament string, that's all.

The above or the choice of RQiS Tour-1 Light... the lower weight and swingweight will let your dad to swing faster and achieve more power.

Thing is he's already using a powerful strings setup, gut mains and poly cross hybrid.

Yes you are right about it will allow him to swing faster. But it might be too light for him though and probably would lose the "plow through" feel with such light weight? His RDS001 Midplus was leaded to around 11.9-12oz.

RQ iS 1 Tour Light
Strung Weight: 11oz / 312g
Swingweight: 305

Mhmmm... understood. So a full multi or gut setup is the only answer... if cost is an issue you should look for a good deal for a multi reel.

Tecnifibre X-1 1,18mm could provide the power you're father is looking for...

I found that gut hybrid not powerful like full gut. Try dropping 2 pound from usual for next time.

Another good idea. :D

More idea, try leading up just 3-5 g at 3 & 9 o'clock, the simple solution.

Thanks guys. I might try lower the tension first see if he likes it. If not then its gonna be full gut or 18g multi:)

Well yes, bigger head size and higher stiffness.

yeah, it's been a while. i remember the rds 001 feeling REALLY elasticky like a rubber band at the throat -_-

did you play with the mid?
sound the like the OP is talking about the rds001 98.

If he is using a gut/poly setup why doesn't he try a full gut/multi setup before he buys a new racquet??

The MID has an elastic feel in the throat. The MP feels more straight up stiff.

Like others have said, get rid of the poly crosses and try a full multi or gut string job. You could also try adding some lead at the 3/9 as well.
