Hi
I am thinking of getting this camcorder Canon ZR800 for recording my strokes
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000M4MT58/ref=pd_luc_mri?_encoding=UTF8&m=A3G19UOFL4CE7M&v=glance
What do you all think of it ? Do you think there is any better model I can get for what I am willing to spend on Canon ZR800

I would get a Hard Drive camera instead of a MiniDV anyday!

I wouldn't get a MiniDV.
For a little more (around $290), you can get a Canon FS100. SD flash memory, amazing zoom capability, good image quality, easy to use, full-featured.
Or you can go with something smaller and cheaper like Stormholloway mentioned (except it has no zoom). The choices are endless, but I would stay away from MiniDV stuff nowadays. Either HD or flash are the way to go.

Any particular brand you would recommend for about 300 dollars

Would the one Stormholloway recommended be effective is recording my tennis strokes ? Can I mount it on a stand ?

If $300 is your max, then there is this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-SDR-H40-Camcorder-Optical-Stabilized/dp/B0011FWU5Q/ref=pd_cp_p_3?pf_rd_p=413862901&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B001284A7S&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0YHKETVFVPTYE23WRZMF
If you can afford a little more, get one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/JVC-Everio-GZ-MG330-Camcorder-Optical/dp/B001284A7S/ref=pd_cp_e_2?pf_rd_p=413862901&pf_rd_s=center-41&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0019BH53Y&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0KCSQG67F6A9ZPXFNBNW
I have the second one but in 60GB.

Not sure; thought I'd just prop it up on something.

If you're happy spending ~$300 go for the hard drive/etc models. Be careful though, many of the HD models aren't as easy to transfer to the PC as you'd imagine. I personally don't like transferring files via proprietary software, but that's just me.
If you want a great setup on a budget, you should look around at the Canon ZR65 (or similar) series on e-bay. You'll find TONS of dead ones on e-bay, with a "black screen" error. The CCD sensor dies on these models under high humidity or temperature, but Canon has a warranty extension on these models. You can buy one for peanuts ($20 + ship) on e-bay, get some accessories (new battery, cheap tripod, a few tapes, AC/DC adapter, etc) and have a pretty darn good setup for under $100. It'll require some work and some patience (especially when transferring files), but IMO it's worth it.
I personally like Mini DV equip, the resolution is surprisingly good.

I found a stand for the mini digital camcorder
http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier.jhtml?pq-path=12988&pq-locale=en_GB&cameraEkNumber=EKN035874&skuID=S50950&Visible=&navCategory=
but I am not sure if it is tall enough. How tall (fully extended length) would the stand have to be able record my serves, assuming I am about 1.65m tall (5 feet 6 inches)

Any idea how much time can it record for ? Long enough for a two hour tennis session ?

Would the lack of zoom facilities have a big detrimental effect ? Are there any other pocket video cameras you would suggest with zoom capabilities ? My budget would be around 200 US dollars
