For my forehand, i generally tend to squeeze on the grip really hard when I'm preparing for the next shot. Is this right or wrong?

wrong, your muscles should be relaxed for the duration of thes wing except during the time of contact with the ball

This is wrong. Hardening your grip means that you're generating power from your wrist and you will feel pain and eventually have injury. To generate power you should be using your core muscles to create a shoulder turn and also use your legs. Learn to shift weight and have a free swing.

Well, yes and no. Noaler, a lot of people receive the advice to grip their handle tight, it's supposed (at least in theory-- it truly makes no difference) to decrease the recoil.
However, you'll get fatigued faster, and you should be firm but comparitively relaxed in my, and that of most other posters I've seen, opinion.

Yea, that's what I thought. I've been holding it to tight for rally shots.

i've been trying really hard to hold the racket loosely when i swing. this will give you more pace and i find it also doesn't slow your racket acceleration down so that you are really hitting through the ball.

actually, i really haven't been holding tight on the racket, but i've been like "squeezing" my arm or charging up. sort of when u flex. is this right or wrong?

Should be relaxed. You shouldn't feel tense hitting the ball. Keep it loose.

only during point of contact...

Holding your racquet handle in a death-grip is analogous to holding another "fleshier" handle too tightly: neither of them yeilds good results. You might've realized that if you hold the latter to tightly, you sacrifice arm speed. Perhaps you've also realized that you compromise technique too much and end up "arming" it. This is not good.
Now that you have a clear picture of what you should NOT be doing, it should be correspondingly clear that you should hold your racquet so tightly.
