During my matches, I've noticed that I have started to hit 2HBH every once in a while along with my normal 1HBH. I've been thinking about learning the 2HBH so I can be a switch backhander. I guess this would help me when I try to hit winners on the backhand side with 2 hands while I could still hit drop shots and slices with 1 hand and conceal my shot selection. Is this a bad idea? Or should I stick with my 1-hander?

(P.S. To members of the 1-Handed Backhand Community, I am sorry. Kick me out if you want to.)

OP, I'm sure the OHBH Communists, I mean Community, will be begging to keep you as a member. After all, they're becoming an endangered species on both tours. ;)

For the longest time I avoided hitting 1HBH slices. I can hit slices with a 2HBH, but only do so for drop shots when I'm in an awkward position at net. My 1HBH slice can go deep or short, but it has its moments when I approach the net with it in doubles.

Adding another shot to your arsenal can be a good thing, provided you don't confuse yourself. I know a guy that coaches two adults and he primarily hits a 1HBH, but there are times he'll hit 2HBH to mix things up during the points.

Don't tell your collective (heck, Sentinel will find out anyway), but I have practiced a few 1HBHs of late. I probably would only use this against those pusher/junkballers in doubles, but I figured I should have a general understanding of that shot. It's gotten better of late, but it's not nearly as fluid as my 2HBH. If I can get the slice to work better, that likely will make my backhand more effective.

Good luck with your strokes. :)

I wonder why you would say that*cough*2HBH CLUB LEADER*cough*

But I'm wondering if I should learn this shot for actual match play?

i would find it useful to have both. i find myself using a 2hbh when i'm jammed and need the extra leverage and when i need to lob (just feels more comfy).

i agree with soyiz about being confused. know which shot you're gonna use in which situation or else you're gonna be tripping up pretty bad.

I tried it for a few matches and it wrecked all my backands. It just ended up being confusing trying to decide which shot to hit. I still use a two hander once or twice a match retrieving lobs or backhands that get behind my body. Otherwise, I stick with the 1 hander. That way I only have to decide if I want to slice it or drive it.
