i think it's a combination of two things: footwork and spin. footwork is the key to every shot in tennis (possible exception is the serve, but that requires set up etc). if you are able to position yourself correct, it will mean that you will be the ideal distance away from the ball so that your arm and body can swing freely, adding accuracy and pace. spin is fairly straight forward as well. a good amount of topspin will allow you to have a greater margin for error over the net coupled with less of a chance of your ball going out. go out and hit with a partner and simply find where it is you are able to hit the ball with regards to footwork and the amount of spin in order to have the ball go reasonable close to the corner. there is no exact science to hitting the ball into a corner of the court. you will have to find a way that fits you best, while implementing proper footwork and spin.

This is the bottom line on how to place the ball.

There is something else worth mentioning. And that is WHEN you should go to the corners. You can't do it on every shot - especially when you are tired or in trouble. Wait for an opporunity when you can set up well, and then use accuracy to place it. Power is overrated if you can place it in the corner. ie, they are not going to hurt you 90% of the time if you can place it to the corner on either side - with or without power.

It's all muscle memory, you should try and practice it with a ball machine.
Practice what you feel more comfortable with:
Flat into the corner
topspin into the corner
or whatever your style is.
Practice and match play tip: If you practice with topspin hitting into the corners, don't start hitting flat into the corners, this will make your practice kind of useles.
